Technical Training

The Glynn County school system works hand-in-hand with Coastal Georgia Community College and area businesses to develop curriculum to ensure that its graduates are prepared for the workplace. An example of the county’s dedication to sustaining a viable workforce is the formation of the new Golden Isles Career Academy, which is expected to open in August 2009. Business partners, Coastal Georgia Community College, and the public school system have aligned curriculum that will allow students to jump start their careers while still in high school.

Curriculum in high skill, high wage and high demand jobs will be added as needed to support the region’s economic growth. Glynn County is also an active participant in Governor Purdue’s Work Ready Initiative. This initiative is coordinated through Coastal Georgia Community College to establish Glynn County as a Work-Ready Community.

Coastal Georgia Community College’s 49 technical programs are available to the community at large. Technical programs can be completed from one semester up to two years, depending upon skill level required. The HOPE Grant covers the cost from technical programs.

Major Programs of Study include:

• 49 Career and Technical programs
