“My whole family was music lovers. We were always into the old-school rockin’ music,” said 17-year-old Kevin Jonas, excitedly.

Kevin is one of a trio of brothers who write music and perform together. They just got signed to Sony. Their debut album, “It’s About Time,” will be in stores in February 2006.

In addition to Kevin, the Jonas Brothers are made up of 13-year-old Nicholas and 16-year-old Joseph. They are inspired by the music of The Ramones, the Jackson 5 and the Modern Lovers.

“For all of us, it’s different things,” Kevin said, regarding the songs they write about. “Girlfriends, the family around us, people we’ve known…”

On “It’s About Time” the brothers collaborated with writers including Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), Michael Mangini (Joss Stone), Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi), Billy Mann (Destiny’s Child, Jessica Simp-son) and Steve Greenberg (Joss Stone, Hanson).

The Jonas Brothers are on an anti-drug tour. Kevin said, “We go into the schools. Our road manager speaks and we do a set of songs. It’s a great way to get our music out there and send a message along with it.”

Kevin’s plans for the future are to keep playing and get their music heard.

The Jonas Brothers will be performing at The Bloomfield Avenue Café, 347 Bloomfield Ave., on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10. For more information, call (973) 783-2100.
