The Western Sonoma County Historical Society (WSCHS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 and incorporated in 1978 to help preserve and maintain the unique heritage of the West County area.

Luther Burbank's Gold Ridge Experiment Farm (Gold Ridge Farm or GRF) is an ongoing project of preservation and restoration.

West County Museum (WCM)  located in the old downtown train station, mounts two or three new exhibits a year.

The Society also presents annual preservation awards to those who have done an outstanding job of preserving or restoring original architecture or, in building new structures, have kept the flavor and heritage of rural Western Sonoma County.

WSCHS  holds General Meetings during year; please see our "KIOSK"

Meetings usually feature programs of a timely or historical theme and include a social hour. The Society supports the GRF and WCM with annual fund raising events. For latest updates please see our KIOSK for selections from the Apple Press (mailed to members).

The Society now also offers Group tours of Sebastopol's Historic Cemetery (Sebastopol Memorial Lawn). Groups must consist of more then ten people. Tours may be given on week days or weekends, date and time to be arranged with the Historical Society. Post-tour gatherings with refreshments can be arranged at the Burbank cottage (at GRF). Requested donation $3 per person. Contact Evelyn McClure 829-1757. Evelyn's new book Sebastopol's Historic Cemetery, A Serendipitous Directory of Pioneers and Citizens Residing Therein is available at the museum gift shop
