According to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS), almost 18,000 Delawareans who are enrolled in Social Security or receiving benefits from the Veterans Administration of at least $3,000 annually qualify to receive a stimulus rebate check but have not filed the necessary form.  The filers are likely eligible to receive $300 -- or totals up to $600 for individuals and $1,200 for joint filers -- in the form of a tax rebate from the IRS.

Small Step in the Right Direction

July 24, 2008 

Today I voted for a good faith short-term effort to help lower gas prices by immediately making more supply available to Americans.   The legislation directs the Energy Department to release 70 million barrels of light-sweet crude oil and replace that with an equal amount of heavy-sour crude.

Our country is still in need of a comprehensive energy policy

As the energy crunch worsens across the country, we continue to urgently search for solutions to give Americans some relief. Today the House voted on H.R. 6525, the Drill Responsibly in Leased Lands (DRILL) Act, which would require the U.S. Department of the Interior to offer oil and gas lease sales on the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska on an annual basis, over the next five years, instead of the current practice of conducting lease sales every two years.
