(Currently available in Japan only) The latest installment in the venerable Derby Stallion franchise uses polygonal graphics for a television-like presentation, and gameplay upgrades, such as a rivals system, and a more comprehensive race program database, making this PS2 version an improvement over previous installments in the series.

The overall presentation is very glossy, and the races themselves are spectacular. The horses' hooves thunder over the lush green turf at breathtaking speed, and you really do get a sense of the excitement of the racetrack. [JPN Import]

Rich gave it a 9:
I live in Japan and fortunately I can also speak and read Japanese and let me tell you, this is an extremely in depth and addictive game. I've only been playing it for a couple of weeks but I can't get enough of it. You start out with a small horse ranch, 1 mother horse and about $200,000 U.S. From there you have to buy sperm to breed your horse. The stallion horses you buy the sperm from are real horses; ie, Seattle Slew, Princely Gift, Northern Dancer, etc. And the attributes, of course, can be passed down to the foal. Cross breeding inbreeding and outbreeding are also possible with spectacular or disasterous effects. There are about 10 or 12 (I forget) different trainers to train your horses and each trainer uses different techniques to train your horse. From there you can race after about a year but it's hard to win at first. Once you start making some money, your car will become fancier and your ranch will start to get bigger. Anyway, there are too many things that this game has to offer to write in this review. The only problems with the game I have so far is the people in the game don't speak but I understand that, and that sometimes the Japanese (written) commentary is too fast, even for Japanese but you get used to it.
