Burn Notice… bad news week

Burn Notice fans are not a bunch to quietly. Last time TEN took the show off air they protested so much the network did a backflip within 24 hours. Part of that was also due to the good ratings it won during the Olympics.

But it seems they just don’t have enough fans. How else do you explain that it’s being rested by TEN -again.

One more episode will air next Monday, “Rough Seas” episode 7 of the second season. Three more eps will go begging for now.

The drama also didn’t air this …

TEN’s week to smile

Channel TEN is enjoying one of its best weeks in a long time, currently sitting in second position after two nights in Week 39, just 0.8% behind Seven.

That’s thanks largely to the performances of Australian Idol and the Brownlow Medal.

Cyndi Lauper’s appearance on Idol on Sunday night nabbed the station 1.34m viewers, beating both 60 Minutes and shrinking Dancing with the Stars. Last night she returned to sing “Time after Time” to the tune of 1.1m viewers. Next week Darren Hayes is guest judge.

TEN also had the 2008 Brownlow Medal in …

Torchwood simmers while AFL burns

Fans of Captain Jack and co. you have the Brownlow Medal and 90210 to “thank” for this.

This Monday night there is no Torchwood because of the AFL’s night of nights at Crown Casino. That means 90210 and Burn Notice are also off air as a result. In NSW and QLD, TEN has 90210 followed by highlights from the Emmy Awards.

So on Monday September 29 there is still some adjustment to do. Viewers in Vic, SA and WA will have a double 90210 in order to catch up to other states, followed …

Brownlow live for NSW, Qld & ACT

AFL fans in NSW, Qld and the ACT will be able to watch the Brownlow Medal live on the Main Event channel before the delayed telecast on Network TEN.

Main Event is offering the telecast free to subscription viewers next Monday night.

TEN screens a delayed telecast in those states after midnight.

Press Release:
Subscription television viewers in NSW, ACT and QLD will see LIVE coverage of the prestigious 2008 Brownlow Medal on FOXTEL’s MAIN EVENT channel (Channel 518) on Monday, September 22 from 8.30pm.

Regarded as the AFL’s night of nights, the Brownlow Medal presentation …

City Homicide v Brownlow

Next week Seven has programmed a repeat of City Homicide in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

It will repeat an episode featuring Vince Colosimo from 2007.

Viewers in Sydney and Brisbane will see a new episode instead.

Of course Monday is the same night that Network TEN has The Brownlow Medal in the same three cities. Last year when the event was screened by Seven it attracted 1.4m viewers.

As yet Seven hasn’t indicated if those three cities are likely to catch up to viewers in Sydney and Brisbane.

90210 dips in week 2, Fringe launches ok

Winning the timeslot in the first week, as we know, is no indication of much at all, except to congratulate the marketing team on a job well done.

90210 which had delivered the highest rated series premiere ever for the CW network in the 18-49 demographic, found a 35% drop in that same demographic just a week later. That doesn’t bode well for TEN next Monday night. A week later the show isn’t even on in Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth due to the Brownlow Medal -a great way to confuse the audience.

Meanwhile …

Airdate: 2008 Emmy Awards

Monday September 22nd sure is a busy day, with the Brownlow Medal and the Emmy Awards both taking place.

Christi Malthouse and Luke Darcy will host the Red Carpet Arrivals, while Steve Quartermain will host the big count. Last year’s winner was Geelong’s Jimmy Bartel (pictured).

90210 and Burn Notice are held over in Vic, SA and WA.

90210 will air in NSW & Qld prior to the Emmy Awards.

Fans keep Burn Notice fire alive

TEN continues to make alterations to its programming regarding Burn Notice, but the news is good for fans.

Instead of early plans for a movie on Monday September 15 at 9:30pm, it will air another episode of the US action drama, with the episode, “Bad Blood.” This is the second last to have aired so far in America.

Next week of course the show is absent due to the 2 hour premiere of 90210. There were some unanswered questions about whether the show would return.

TEN had already done one backflip on Burn Notice …
