Brief Biography
Mr. Eli Hurvitz has served as Chairman of the Board of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited since April 2002. Eli Hurvitz has been determined by the Board to be a financial and accounting expert under Israeli law. Prior to becoming Chairman, he served as Teva’s President and Chief Executive Officer for over 25 years and has been employed at the Company for over forty years. He serves as Chairman of the Board of The Israel Democracy Institute (IDI), Chairman of the Board of NeuroSurvival Technologies Ltd. (a private company) and is a Director of Vishay Intertechnology. He served as Chairman of the Israel Export Institute from 1974 through 1977 and as the President of the Israel Manufacturers Association from 1981 through 1986. Mr. Hurvitz was also Chairman of the Board at Bank Leumi Ltd. between 1986 and 1987, a Director of Koor Industries Ltd. from 1997 through 2004, and a member of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at John F. Kennedy School of Government and at Harvard University from 2002 through 2005. He received his B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from the Hebrew University in 1957.
