Prah Athit (Sunday Ensemble) Also known as the Golden Ensemble, embroidered in 2000-2002, Paris, FranceCoronation ceremony garment of the royal court, designed in 1974. The king’s council and the protocol committee had begun to prepare the garments for the upcoming coronation of the heir to the throne, and the princess was to soon be crowned queen. Unfortunately, the coronation did not take place because the monarchy was overthrown in 1975. In 1984, the artist left Laos and took with him the documentation of this design to France. Complete ensemble includes: Body (shown above) Designs include bat, butterfly, dragon, fan and trident, and mystical animals from Indian mythology. Y-collared shirt made of damask silk, comprised of collar, hem, cuffs, wings. The back has a genealogical tree guarded by coupled lions. Shawl Lao silk in gold color.
