Adobe and the Pixmantec acquisition

On June 26, 2006, Adobe Systems Incorporated acquired the technology assets of Pixmantec ApS, makers of RawShooter™, a digital imaging software application that provides workflow management and processing capabilities for digital camera raw files.

This acquisition strengthens Adobe's position as a leader in raw processing technology. The Adobe® Photoshop® Camera Raw plug-in provides the foundation of nondestructive raw processing technology that has been extended and improved throughout the Photoshop Lightroom™ beta program. The beta program gave the photographic community the opportunity to deliver feedback on the development of software built from the ground up to help photographers organize, process, and showcase their images. This feedback, Adobe's own internal development efforts, and concepts such as vibrance from the RawShooter products have been combined to enhance the intuitive, high-quality, nondestructive image editing capabilities of Lightroom.

Lightroom is available to all Adobe customers for a special introductory price of US$199, a US$100 discount, through April 30, 2007. The discount is offered in appreciation of loyal Photoshop users as well as early supporters of Lightroom and beta participants.

When Adobe acquired the assets of Pixmantec, we knew we had also acquired the high expectations of the devoted RawShooter community. We invited you to join the Lightroom beta program to provide feedback, and we are now pleased to offer a free downloadable copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom as appreciation for your input and previous efforts with the RawShooter Premium technology. An e-mail will be sent by February 23, 2007, to all registered owners of Pixmantec RawShooter Premium with instructions on how to fulfill this offer.

Pixmantec customers not qualified to receive the free Lightroom offer are invited to try a free 30-day trial and take advantage of the introductory US$199 pricing.
