Chester City have completed the signing of former Manchester United youngster Eddie Johnson on a two-year deal.
The 24-year-old, who started his career at Old Trafford, was released by Bradford City last season.
"He gives us options as he can play either as one of the front two or play in midfield," Chester manager Simon Davies told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"He is a an attacking midfielder or out-and-out striker. He can play either of those roles really."
Davies has also spoken about the recent return of 40-year-old striker Wayne Allison.
"The experience he has is second to none and he's played over 750 league games," Davies continued.
"He needs a bit of fitness work. But he has never been one to run into channels. He's a big boy with lots of quality.
"You can hit the ball up to him and it sticks."
