Obama Not Told About Alleged Assassination Plot

October 27, 2008 5:11 PM

Nm_obama_secret_service_detail_0810 A senior Barack Obama aide tells ABC News that Obama's Secret Service detail had not been briefed on the alleged plot to assassinate the Democratic nominee, an indication that the plot had not reached the point of posing a serious threat to Obama.

"They were given no heads up," the Obama aide tells ABC News.

ABC News' Jack Date reports the ATF have arrested two neo-Nazis for an alleged plot to Obama.

The plotters were also planning to kill 88 individuals by gunfire and 14 African Americans by decapitation a federal law enforcement sources tells ABC News.

Obama has had Secret Service agents surrounding him since May 3, the earliest a candidate has ever been provided protection.

An Obama aide tells ABC News that Secret Service headquarters "would be notified of anything that mentioned" Obama. But adds that "it never rose to any sort of serious level," which explains why Obama's personal detail was not notified.

This is awful. I am a McCain Supporter, but I think this is awful. I wish that you people could be as equally upset and angry about the actions of another home grown terrorist Ayers. Imagine what the family of those individuals that the Weather Underground injured feel. It's all terror whether today or 25 years ago, we should be outraged across the board.

Palin's hate speech leads to this.
Words have consequences... something Ms Palin does not seem to understand.

Posted by: Gus | Oct 27, 2008 5:31:02 PM

What a couple of big talking, low IQ blithering idiots! What few teeth they have between them will soon be missing after they are put in with the general prison population. Don't drop the soap fools.

God please protect our next president!

Posted by: Kathy | Oct 27, 2008 5:33:56 PM

This type of hatred & divisiveness is only fuled by the dispicable attacks launched against Obama this campaign. And the new Republican ads airing linking Obama with Rev. Wright only further this type of hatred. Enough!!! Cant they end this campaign on a more civil note!!Its time the media blasted the Repubs for their dispicable attacks and shame them into a more civil mode. Enough of this divisive and hateful politics!! I hope the Obama team fights even harder & wins this election with a very desicive victory!!

Posted by: Dee | Oct 27, 2008 5:34:38 PM

The ages of these 2 idiots? 18 and 20, so no doubt the sons of racists idiots. Words are powerful, and Palin has some baggage in this...she can say she didn't hear ANY of the things screamed out by her fans, but i don't buy it.

Posted by: Dee | Oct 27, 2008 5:38:27 PM

This is the results of the hate messages McCain and Palin have been spreading. Nuts on the fringes thrive on such retraite. McCain and Palin should be held responsible for inciting such violence. Where has the justice gone??

Posted by: LANNY EDWARDS | Oct 27, 2008 5:41:11 PM

Dee, all the NeoCons have is hate, lies, and smears. Look at their rallies, that shows us the caliber of people that has infested the once proud GOP. At a Pallin rally today a woman yelled out N---er. Ms Pallin as usual, just kept on spreading the lies and hate.

Posted by: Clint | Oct 27, 2008 5:42:29 PM

Another glimpse of what Zero administration would look like. Just like Bush, he is not to be told many things, and then lies, and then, makes boneheaded mistakes.

Posted by: d0 | Oct 27, 2008 5:42:37 PM

I have to agree with Kim but I'm confused about this Ayers thing. If Ayers participated in the bombings wouldn't he still be in jail? I think he was just part of the group that was responsible for bombings. I know he is a professor at UIC which means he must not be to bad.

Posted by: Dave | Oct 27, 2008 5:44:48 PM

I have faith that Sen.Obama will be okay and that he will become the next President. This kind of stuff should not define this great nation and where it needs to go. This is time when all should be coming together and deciding how this nation will go for the next four years. Don't let this kind of thing divide us.

Ooh- I'd better go vote for Obama now and put him in the white house in order to stop racism. If I don't support him, I must be racist or a McCain or Hillary supporter. The logic of NoBama supporters is pathetic!

Posted by: Rob | Oct 27, 2008 5:47:48 PM

This is the waste product McCain/Palin hate rallies.

Posted by: petra jennings | Oct 27, 2008 5:49:07 PM

This is a result of the hate-filled rants by Palin and McCain at their violent and racist rallies. The GOP controlled press has just ignored this issue and pretends its not happening so private citizens have to go out there and document the reality. Pure inbred losers, that is what the GOP has become and that is what the television/radio media cows to.

Posted by: JD | Oct 27, 2008 5:49:10 PM

This has nothing to do with Ayers & to mention Ayers in this context seems only a means of trying to divert from this horrid issue of racism.

Posted by: Dee | Oct 27, 2008 5:49:29 PM

Maybe this is a typo but I think it was supposed to be kill 102 African Americans (88 by gunshots and 14 by decapitation). As it reads now, they were killin 88 individuals and 14 African Americans--which leaves the impression that African-Americans aren't, you know, persons.

Posted by: KJ | Oct 27, 2008 5:51:29 PM

Rob...what's up? You upset because they didn't succeed? You protest too much to be sane.

Posted by: Dee | Oct 27, 2008 5:51:31 PM

I wonder if the news reporter from Florida will ask McCain/Palin if their platform is that of the Neo-Nazis like she asked Biden about Marxism.

Posted by: fivepin | Oct 27, 2008 5:52:06 PM

WHY QUICKLY TAG THESE HIRED ASSASINS NEONAZI'S INSTEAD OF CALLING THEM AMERICAN CAUCASIANS WHO HATE TO SEE AN AFRICAN AMERICA BECOME THE PRERSIDENT OF UNITED STATE OF AMERICA? THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS THAT THEY ARE REPUBLICAN AGENTS TO SILENCE OPPOSITION PARTY AND OFCOURSE AFRICAN-AMERICANS. WHY MUST THE CAUCASIAN'S KEEP RULING AMERICA? Kim:

you would use any opportunity to inject that stupid Ayers argument......

Posted by: shalom | Oct 27, 2008 5:53:46 PM

Ayers never did anything for which any formal charges were ever lodged against him. And just for the record, the only people any of the members of the Weather Underground ever killed were members of the Weather Underground. And for the first responder on this thread, a question. What about Mr. McCain's "palling around" with G. Gorden Liddy? Why doesn't that count?

Posted by: claypigeonb | Oct 27, 2008 5:56:37 PM

There is no doubt that the hate messages spewing forth in the last month from the McCain campaign helps to foment these sorts of plots.

Posted by: Robert | Oct 27, 2008 5:57:25 PM

Kim - Seriously? Ayres? Come on. There is no fricking comparison. We're talking about a plan to commit mass homicide and kill the next President of the United States because of RACE and HATE.

Who promotes race-baiting and fear-mongering? The GOP and the right-wing talking heads and radio personalities. The ones who brought you Ayres, Wright, Acorn, etc. - ALL non-relevant spin-tales designed to inspire fear and hate in the electorate.

Posted by: Jade | Oct 27, 2008 5:57:40 PM

We love Obama;
shame on McNasty and Cheney Light (McCain and Palin) for the hate and racism they have promoted and incited !

Posted by: philosopherkingtomas | Oct 27, 2008 5:57:44 PM

Why is it that when things like this happen it is McCain or Palin or Hillary who has "incited" it. Doesn't anyone understand that racism exists in this country and is not there because of Obama's political opponents. On the contrary, they are all too afraid to really press him on his former associations like Wright and appear "racist," when it was Obama and his wife in the front pew for 20 years when their beloved pastor was spewing hate. I just wish Obama supporters would see Obama for what he really is: WEAK. If he were white, he would be running ahead by 70% by now, so racism works both ways. He may be the first affirmative action president.

RELEASE THE RASHID KHALILI TAPES, MEDIA!!!! OBAMA IS A TERRORIST!

Posted by: Khrutch | Oct 27, 2008 5:59:33 PM

With Palin/McCain's race-baiting, terrorist-mongering and McCarthyeque theatrics, it's not surprising that a few of their supporters resort to this type of action.

When Palin implied that a vote for Obama would lead to a loss of liberty and freedom and especially when she dropped the 'C' word -- Communism, this is the consequence of irresponsible speech and thoughtless actions of a hate-filled campaign.

It's obvious that Palin does not get out much from the backwater of Alaska. Communism in the 21st century. are you kidding?

Be safe Obama.

A "lady" at a Palin rally today is heard screaming "He's a ni**er" as the VP candidate paused momentarily, then, with her voice getting higher continued. . . NO action or spine. . . She heard and did / said nothing. . . SHAME on her.

.

Posted by: gil moore | Oct 27, 2008 6:00:14 PM

McCain and Palin rallys do incite this kind of hatred and anger in people. I can't believe how low McCain has gone. He has no honor left and now he is splitting the country. He should be so ashamed of himself.
Palin needs to go back to her home where I doubt she will be re-elected. McCain needs to go to one of his many homes and retire. I hope when this election is over the press refuses to cover Palin, McCain, Bush and Cheney, enough is enough. I want to go the rest of my life without ever seeing them or hearing their voices ever again.
The Secret Service had better keep Obama safe, I know Obama will keep us safe.

This is sickening to think that you are condoning this type of behaviour and you are loving to stir up the hate no matter where you go. Please stop with the distortion of the truth and LIES!! Don't you know that the LIES that you are spewing from your mouths are causing people to HATE this much???? You will do anything to keep complete control and annihilation of this country. You are nothing but manipulative and mind-controlling, hate and war-mongers. We have had enough of your disgusting rule!!! You pathetic, weeping NoObama supporters are as radical as those neo nazis who they arrested, as far as I'm concerned. I certain am angry that far-right jerks were trying to target Obama, and I'm glad they were caught.

Yet you shouldn't go around trying to make this into a political ploy by mentioning Ayers. Yeah, I certainly have a good hunch a great percentage of people in the country think Ayers and the Weathermen were wrong, but he has no link to Obama, who was only eight years old at the time. So how could anyone link Ayers' wrongdoings with Obama? That does not make sense. You might as well say that every student that was taught by the man at the university was a 'terrorist' when they are not.

Posted by: GWP | Oct 27, 2008 6:12:50 PM

Who's surprise!!??

Racist folks like Rush Limbaugh and his side kick, Sean Hannity should also be held accountable for this....

Those men hate senator Obama....And they have fan the flame of racism and hatred towards him being president. In fact, the entire Fox News network should also be held accountable for creating an atmosphere that makes this type of murderous, demonic behavior conducive.....And let us add Sara Palin too.....

SARA PALIN HAS BROUGHT THIS ON
Posted by: Angie | Oct 27, 2008 6:07:50 PM

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Palin is just the type of person who would not realize that the type of rhetoric she was spouting could actually get people hurt or killed. God watches over children and fools. With Palin and McCain HE has his hands full. I will pray for the safety of Obama. Only 8 more days until McCain can go back to AZ and Palin can return to Alaska.
Posted by: Mellisa New York | Oct 27, 2008 6:15:41 PM
This suggests that people need to be careful about their rhetoric. Both sides need to tone down their rhetoric but McCain's campaign in particular needs to consider their inflammatory rhetoric.
Posted by: Ken | Oct 27, 2008 6:16:04 PM
I know this may sound somewhat un-American, but why are these guys being granted due process for these atrocious crimes? If they've admitted to it, let's get it over with so that our country can get back to more important matters.
However, this proves our country seriously needs a NATIONAL discussion on race.
Posted by: Dan Thomas | Oct 27, 2008 6:16:26 PM
Not surprised Obama not warned about it, because it was a thousand miles away and just more fodder for the media and Obama supporters to cry racist at those who do not back their Messiah.
Posted by: Rob | Oct 27, 2008 6:16:38 PM
Angie:
Thanks for your comments.....I actually wrote mine concerning those two losers before reading yours....
It should be against the law for Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh to do what they do.....
Those men are being controlled by Satan himself........
Racism is of the devil....And Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are two of Satan's biggest weapons......
How is America allowing them to stay on the air? In this day and time, how????
This is really getting out of hand; and Fox News should be banned....
Ayers comes from a wealthy and powerful Chicago family. Ayers and Dohrn went into hiding, and as I recall, when he reappeared, the statute of limitations for his crimes had run out.
In 2001 he expressed his only regret was that he and his group were not more successful with their bombings.
Posted by: LJC | Oct 27, 2008 6:18:02 PM
Let's maintain a level of civility about this. Even Reagan was targeted at some point, and there's no reason to panic or start pointing fingers.
Like Obama says, don't let the perfect distract you from the good. There are always going to be irrational people out there, and we can't go living in fear.
America is the beacon of hope and optimism. Let's us not lose faith in ourselves or each other.
Posted by: Susana | Oct 27, 2008 6:18:08 PM
Posted by: mark | Oct 27, 2008 6:19:13 PM
Hannity has an Obama fixation. CYCLOPES NEWS (fox news) is the only channel that would give Hannity a show. If you ever listen to him, he almost has a heart attack anytime anyone says anything good about Obama. I was surprised when Geraldo actually told Hannity that he was not helping McCain by harping on Ayers.
Posted by: Margie | Oct 27, 2008 6:20:41 PM
Let me see if I got this right. So if you hate McCain you are a sane Democrat? If you hate Obama you are a racist?
Posted by: independent voter08 | Oct 27, 2008 6:20:51 PM
The inflammatory words of McCain and Palin only roused their own supporters, and served no purpose in winning them any votes. So why didn't they cool it? All they have accomplished is goading already volatile nuts into murderous actions, and I don't think they really care.
Posted by: shockolit | Oct 27, 2008 6:20:59 PM
Racists are cowards. They do not have the guts to be individuals.
Posted by: raj | Oct 27, 2008 6:21:50 PM
I feel really sorry for those two kids. You have to grow up in such utter ignorance and hatred to conceive of such a plan. We are not moving forward unless we all step up together.
If we realized that we become what we hate the most (in one sense or another) then we'd stop seeing ourselves in such extreme opposition. The cry for blood would finally be silenced.
Posted by: Melissa | Oct 27, 2008 6:21:51 PM
Just out of curiosity... I thought our just system was about rehabilitation. Kim, suppose Ayers had been guilty, convicted, sentenced, served, and released. Is he not allowed to turn over a new leaf, see the error of his ways, and return as a productive and full member of society. Seems to me that Governor Palin and the GOP need to go back to that Bible they're always talking about and reread to story of The Prodigal Son.
Posted by: danny | Oct 27, 2008 6:22:46 PM
Obama was a poor American citizen who worked hard and became president of the Harvard Law Review.
He is now poised to become President of the United States. He is proof that the American Dream is still possible, and he is more likely to make that dream possible for the rest of us.
Posted by: Robert M | Oct 27, 2008 6:25:32 PM
When the McCain campaign and its supporters deliberately use "blood libel," calling Obama a terrorist, mass murderer, etc., they raise the overall level of hatred and rhetorical violence in mainstream Republican circles. When this happens, it encourages the violence-prone extremist fringe - who are always present, no matter how decent the rest of society is - to think that actual violence is now acceptable. It makes them feel less isolated, more justified. After all, the extremists think, they are only defending the country from a socialist terrorist mass-murderer (the GOP said so!) Who wouldn't fight against such a Hitlerian figure, they think.
When McCain/Palin fail to make it absolutely clear to their increasingly deranged and hate-blinded followers that violence against Obama would be a despicable, unholy and criminal act against a decent, patriotic American, McCain/Palin become DIRECTLY responsible for any act of violence that terrorists on the Right attempt to perpetrate.
May God keep Obama safe. May God protect us all.
You pathetic, weeping NoObama supporters are as radical as those neo nazis who they arrested, as far as I'm concerned. And the media makes it seem as if they were apprehended in the act of killing the Messiah. They were somewhere in the south dreaming about how to steal some guns, probably heavily intoxicated. Nowhere near your Messiah. I pity the amount of taxpayer money that is being spent to protect him and other candidates for 2 years now
Read the article, Rob. Obama has only had secret service protection since May 3rd.
For the people saying that being upset about assasination plots against Obama is the same as condoning the WU, nice leap in logic. A person can not condone the WU activites from 40 years ago, see no problem with the working relationship between Obama and Ayers, and still be upset some neo-Nazi nuts want to circumvent the legal election process by killing a candidate. Those are all mutually exclusive things.
Obama was a poor American citizen who worked hard and became president of the Harvard Law Review.
He is now poised to become President of the United States. He is proof that the American Dream is still possible, and he is more likely to make that dream possible for the rest of us.
Don't mix Ayers in this. That was 25 years ago. How about looking at the present and towards a better future?
Obama is not only a racional politician (hence the support from so many media editorials), but also the only alternative in comparison to a mediocre Republican candidate with a useless VP candidate.
This is directly a result of the racist attacks on Obama by Palin and McCain. I think they should be prosecuted for their role in inciting violence against "Obama the terrorist." I'm starting to realize that Republican beliefs are really no different from Nazi beliefs.
Any REPUBLICANS who are truely concerned with Ayers should look to getting him fired from teaching students. Isn't he just teaching future terrorist? Will the fact that these students have been taught by Ayers hurt them in the future? That is if REPUBLICANS are really concerned with Ayers. I highly doubt anyone, McCain...Palin...or any Republicans are really concerned about Ayers. Ayers is just low hanging fruit to hit Obama with and it has not worked yet.
Fivepin says:
"WHY QUICKLY TAG THESE HIRED ASSASINS NEONAZI'S INSTEAD OF CALLING THEM AMERICAN CAUCASIANS WHO HATE TO SEE AN AFRICAN AMERICA BECOME THE PRERSIDENT OF UNITED STATE OF AMERICA"
It is because they claimed that they are neo-nazis, they had swastika's on their car and the numbers "88" and "14" are neo-nazi symbols. The 88 stands for "heil hitler" (H is the 8th letter of the alphabet) and the 14 stands for the "14 words"...some quote by some racist idiot about securing the future of the white race.
The fact that the VAST majority of white americans find racism dispicable and idiotic would be another good reason. We should be coming together against this stuff, not trying to peg the actions on a tiny fraction of a percentage on all of 'white america'.
Posted by: joe | Oct 27, 2008 6:33:12 PM
Robert M - do you have a law degree, history of being a community organizer (yawn!), and a VERY questionable past and associates? YOU TOO .. can be President!
Posted by: Marcus | Oct 27, 2008 6:34:14 PM
Right, because they were probably plotting in their mom's basement. On their list of other plots was rob a bank, become king of the world, and become rock stars. These guys are sickos and freaks, but let's not give them credit like their "plot" was anything more than a twisted, murderous fantasy.
Posted by: Sarah | Oct 27, 2008 6:34:27 PM
In their negative campaigning, in the tone of their vitriol, in the repetition of false accusations and smears that lead their followers to believe that Obama is un-American, treasonous (for which the penalty under US federal statutes includes death, particularly in wartime), that he is a closet Arab, disguised Muslim, foreign born, etc., what the Republican campaign managers and their media surrogates are doing is something much more dangerous than trying to win an election. Elementary discursive analysis reveals the not-to-subtle cues to direct action embedded in the Republican campaign rhetoric. Put bluntly: by demonising Barack Obama, it is a subliminal invitation to murder.
Posted by: jim | Oct 27, 2008 6:35:01 PM
And people wonder why the nasty rhetoric about Obama "palin' around with terrorists" is dangerous. It's true that McCain cannot control the actions of these scumbags, but he certainly shouldn't be encouraging them, either.
As a Christian, I cannot and do not condone McCain's un-Christian behavior. I took part in early voting and I have already voted against him.
Posted by: Joe | Oct 27, 2008 6:37:11 PM
So Ayers was and these guys are all young white would-be terrorists? Ayers is an older guy. So what? What does that have to do with Obama? Obama is a black middle-aged, non-terrorist. If Obama is killed, these McCain morons will find a way to blame it on Bill Ayers. Can't people just admit that this wrong and insane and be done with it? Why do the McCain people have to find a way to make it okay to shoot a black presidential candidate.
Posted by: Di | Oct 27, 2008 6:37:59 PM
I have never seen such hate for two candidates.....Obama and Palin, ever. McCain and Biden escape most of it as they are two old politicans with histories.
I live in LA and an idiot in West Hollywood has a dummy dressed as Gov. Palin hanging from a noose outside his house (he's probably gay due to where he lives).
No amount of hate is acceptable and I'm thinking this country may NOT be ready for change. Never before in my 50 years have I seen such disgust for people who want to serve our country.
I am a Hillary supporter for McCain, and don't think Obama is right for President with his views and associations are what I find unacceptable, however he has served in the Senate and I wish he would go back there and really vote for something that gets passed into legislation. I would say maybe run again when he has more experience, but he'll still have his history of bad judgement on his radical associations.
As a republican, I am shocked that people who classify themselves as republicans still have no problem with skinheads being a large part of the republican party. I am saddened that some republicans are still happy to have their party be a party of only whites, to be a party which I myself have seen discriminate against jews, and blacks, and hispanics, and asians, and other ethnicities. How can we continue to be a political party that does not have within it all the ethnicities that exist in this country!!
Posted by: Marcus | Oct 27, 2008 6:42:47 PM
We know that this kind of person is out there. It is despicable that they would try to commit that act perpetuate that type of terror with a plan to kill children in a predominantly African American school by the dozens.
It's interesting that membership in white supremacist groups began to grow again, after a steady decline since the '60s, during the last 8 years with the growing voice of the intolerant folks on the extreme right. News outlets like Fox and NY Post also help to fuel the fire of hatred. Does anyone remember when Liz Trotta said on Fox that she wished they would assassinate Obama? If not you should find the clip online, you will be astounded.
We need healing and unity in this country. If the over all message in the media and our leaders, both government and religious, is one of unity and tolerance the membership in these groups will again start to decline. All the more reason we need a leader like Obama.
Posted by: Mary | Oct 27, 2008 6:43:39 PM
This is the exact reason why I can not vote for Obama.
His assisination would not be good for this country. I can do what is for the good of this country and that would be to best keep him alive and safe and that is to not be president.
I also know that it would be almost impossible to keep him protected. Today's ultra high powered rifles can blow through a manhole cover at a range greater than a mile. If someone wanted him, a vest or laminated glass isn't going to stop them.
So I must vote to keep Obama and America safe. That vote is not for Obama.
1) Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas , it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unempl oyed Minorities!
This woman is frightening.
She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.' When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:
'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.' (Read that quote again and again and let it sink in. 'Lower your retirement, give it to others who have not worked as you have for it'
2) 2001 OBAMA: TRAGEDY 'REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH' NOT PURSUED BY SUPREME COURT
3) Obama: 'I'm not interested in the suburbs. The suburbs bore me'...
4) Bill Ayers is staying mum, and working hard to duck reporters and the campaign spotlight in the final week before the election.
He told a journalism student attending a education justice symposium in New York Sunday he and other former radicals were being "demonized" by Fox News. "We're nice guys, right?"
Asked by the student, if he repudiated the actions of the Weather Underground, which carried out a series of 1960's robberies and bombings that killed at least six people, Ayers walked away without answering.
Kim- We're all outraged about any unnecessary violence. Whether it be Bill Ayers despicable acts of 25 years ago or the purported plot to kill Obama. The difference is that you don't see the Obama campaign blaming McCain/Palin as being responsible for this.
So yes, I'm outraged all across the board, especially about the fact that the McCain camp seems to think that Obama should have stopped Bill Ayers from perpetrating these acts at age 8.
Posted by: John | Oct 27, 2008 7:01:03 PM
Why is everyone upset? Ayer's actually blew buildings up. His wife firebombed the home of a judge while the family was still inside. Obama thinks highly of Ayers as an educator and one who helped launched his political career. Now the shoe is on the other foot and it doesn't fit well does it? It doesn't matter if Obama was 8 years old, a terrorist is terrorist.
Posted by: Linda/Michigan | Oct 27, 2008 7:01:11 PM
Posted by: Norris | Oct 27, 2008 7:03:02 PM
I am so tired of people of low information and ability to process common sense. Those that equate this with Bill Ayers are just as sick as those that tried to assassinate Obama. Bill Ayers did not kill anybody or attempt to kill anybody. He did however destroyed buidings and statutes. This by no means justifies his actions but I keep reading those who have added charges to what he did inspite of the fact he was never convicted of the charges that were waged against him. This was a time when Obama was eight years old. Obama met this man a couple of decades AFTER the fact and they worked on a non-profit group that was organized and orchestrated by the same people who endorsed John McCain. Incidentally, the same identical group had a host of republicans that sat on that board with Obama at that time which one of the members was the ambassador to Ronald Reagan. Are we to suggest he "pal around with terrorist" too? Or we just assigned that label to the Biracial man running for the highest office in the land and overlook the kind of "pals" McCain associated with....for instance G. Gordy Liddy the man that gave instructions on how to kill law enforcements and who did all sort of dirty undemocratic tactics to win the white house for Nixon. Remember him? That is the former president who was impeached as a result of the activities of Liddy. Who was convicted and did time...Ayers never was convicted. Do you see the double standard that those who keep whining about Ayers...and overlook Palin who husband, the first dude...membership in an organization that whose founder said he hated America and would not even want to be buried with the "dam* flag" (his words not mine). The Alaska Independent Party who seeks to separate Alaska from America. And yet those same people who cry about a man that was charged with a crime when Obama was eight years of age..and yet NO ONE questions the patriotism of Sarah and her husband. Sarah spoke at this separatist group just last year and gave them her support. But this action does not bother those whiners ...for they are not interested in truth but spin. They are low informed individuals that believe the lies even though truth is right at their fingertips. They do not want to be enlightened ...they are too satisfied with being stupid.
Posted by: SRD | Oct 27, 2008 7:03:25 PM
If the Republican party is the party of the Bible then shouldn't they know something about forgiveness? The man is a distinguished professor. A terrorist may be a terrorist, but it might make sense to judge him for the work he is doing today not just something he was NEVER CONVICTED OF 40 years ago.
"Why is it that when things like this happen it is McCain or Palin or Hillary who has "incited" it. Doesn't anyone understand that racism exists in this country and is not there because of Obama's political opponents. On the contrary, they are all too afraid to really press him on his former associations like Wright and appear "racist," when it was Obama and his wife in the front pew for 20 years when their beloved pastor was spewing hate. I just wish Obama supporters would see Obama for what he really is: WEAK. If he were white, he would be running ahead by 70% by now, so racism works both ways. Posted by: DEE | Oct 27, 2008 7:18:03 PM
"They will try and stop change. But there is an awesome God. Who spoke unto his son that the poor shall inherit the world."
Those who for so long have manipulated religion, the media, and the government for their own doing are feeling the power of the people. A black man with a funny name and big ears will lead our country into the this new century and stir in us the inspiration to believe that we are better. Better than this petty racism, Better than divisiveness, and Better then Joe Halliburton and his crony's. What these neo-nazi's don't understand is that they dont speak for me. Im white and im proud to vote for a black man. Moreover, killing Obama will only make his message stronger.
Tick Tock! Change is Seven Days away.
This was feared by me and many before the Dirty Politics by the Republican Party but the Republican Party has smeared, distorted, lied, committed character assassinations on Senator Obama. They have incited Violence on Senator Obama by making this a Racist, Lying Attack against Senator Obama. They have distorted the truth, lied about his Birth Certificate, his being a U.S. Citizen, about him being a Muslim. Lied about his Tax Proposals that would not raise taxes on anyone except those who make over $250,000. Those under $66,000 would receive on avg. a decrease, savings in Taxes of $1100, with McCain they would save $373 on Avg. but the Republican Party, including McCain and Palin, have distorted the truth. They have cast Senator Obama as the Anti-Christ, the Devil himself.
God Bless Senator Obama and his Family. This Man being Black knew the Racists nature would rear it's ugly head. I never dreamed that the Christian Right, Republican Party, McCain and Palin would be apart of this Racist attack on Senator Obama. I can see Skinheads, racist, redneck heathens but i never dreamed the Republican Party would stoop so low. I pray God watches over Senator Obama, today and every day. May God Punish those who had a part in the smear tactics, with the Ayers lies, this Election is full of Deceit, Corruption, just like Bush and his Administration. They will do anything to win. They are the Devil. May God punish them and seek his Revenge.
linda/michigan,
Anyone who is bi-racial tends to choose one race over the other. No I don't believe he hates his grandmother. If he didn't believe in the the words and preachings of Rev. Wright and the hate that Farrakhan spat why on God's earth would he have stayed and listened to that for 20 years...? I am not saying what these kids did wasn't wrong, I am just saying that there is racism everywhere in our country.
Posted by: kbmfor | Oct 27, 2008 7:22:06 PM
I am appalled at some of the comments that I have read in the emais that have been sent to abc. How can civilized American citizens believe that McCAIN ADN PALIN are are evil people and that they are responsible for all the hated in this country. Obama has done his share of negative adds. I DO NOT WATCH ABC news anymore even when Charles Gibson is on. Good Morning Amaerica is not one of my favorite shows. Fox tv gives the fairist coverage of the election than any network.
Do you think Obama knows yet?
Posted by: Mark In Irvine | Oct 27, 2008 7:26:08 PM
For Kim from earlier. yes, we'd be worried about Ayers if he was currently plotting to do some bombings. However, since that is not the case, your comparison is not a valid one. Please try another.
Posted by: SpoxLogic | Oct 27, 2008 7:26:39 PM
FOX NEWS!? Honestly? They openly admit they are biased.
Posted by: MNman | Oct 27, 2008 7:28:04 PM
"Ooh- I'd better go vote for Obama now and put him in the white house in order to stop racism. If I don't support him, I must be racist or a McCain or Hillary supporter. The logic of NoBama supporters is pathetic!"
Your logic more so. Instead of making this yet another chance to bash Obama, how about you actually look at the trash that McCain has attracted with his silence. This isn't about Obama, it's about the GOP's silence when it comes to this behavior. Those rallies where they scream such horrid things about Obama wouldn't occur if those crowds weren't made to feel comfortable doing it, instead of being publicly shamed for it. No one cares who you vote for, just show a modicum of dignity. Thus far, the GOP has failed miserably. Even Obama visiting his grandmother was turned into an excuse to bash him by the GOP. Grow the hell up, GOP. People are sick of this. No class.
Posted by: Pam | Oct 27, 2008 7:30:31 PM
kbmfor,
The problem with your argument is that many people sit in a church their entire lives and won't believe what they are hearing. I'm fairly certain that Mr. Obama, being the educated man that he is, would not believe everything that he hears from the pulpit. I sat in on Catholic Mass for 25 years, but sure doesn't mean I believe everything I heard in there. Other reasons exist to sit in a church.
Posted by: MNman | Oct 27, 2008 7:31:20 PM
Those of you that are claiming this is a republican thing are quite wrong.
If it were up to just republicans, these two would have been executed days ago.
Get off of your partisan high horse and get a life.
And to those of you that think this is some terrorist group tied to the republican party, you too need to get a life. Funny how when I google domestic terrorists I get liberal democrat groups.
Posted by: h8 partisan hacks | Oct 27, 2008 7:32:03 PM
For anybody on here that wishes to relate this to Ayers, let me clear this up for you - liberals are outraged by what he committed, 25 years ago or 25 days ago, makes no difference; it's inexcusable. Now linking that to Obama is outragous as well. So I ask that you guys give it up, no one believes Obama is in cahoots with this guy and he has pretty much nothing to do with him. So go back to the issues already, the character assassination is losing you guys the election.
Posted by: AD | Oct 27, 2008 7:33:22 PM
All I want to say is this. These two white men give white people a bad name. I am white, and I can say that I am ashamed to be white in the 21st century because there are still white people who can be so backwards and discriminatory. Why are these hate groups allowed to exist? Just google white power, and you'll see that t-shirts and buttons are being sold to promote white supremacy. Yes, I know our constitution promotes freedom of speech, but we don't allow Islamic extremists to exchange ideas about blowing up the Pentagon, so why should we allow white supremacists to plot killing Obama on the internet?
I don't understand. By the way, the majority of white people don't represent these twisted people. I hope and pray to God that justice will be served to these two delinquents. It is time to treat white nationalist extremists as terrorists. This is bigger than getting Obama elected. This is about preserving MLK Jr.'s dream, which I believe in.
Posted by: John | Oct 27, 2008 7:35:51 PM
First, kudos to ATF for uncovering this heinous plot.
I was so afraid of this. ATF and FBI, can you consider busting up localized pockets of White Supremacists hatemongers who have issued ANY sort of threat? I remember Alan Berg, radio talk show host, being gunned down by supremacists for the offense of broadcasting his opinion of their core beliefs. Any of their threatening venom must be taken seriously.
Whether you support or don't support Obama is irrelevant. Murder trumps all, including political affiliation. I remember all too well the JFK, MLK and RFK assassinations, and attempted assassinations on Wallace, Ford and Reagan. Unforgivable acts by evil or demented people that traumatized the country and world. So much hate remains in our country, our world. It's time for healing, time for peace.
God be with you Obama. God be with all of us.
First of all, it's spelled "ads." I'll leave the rest of it alone. Secondly, PROVE it. This isn't even about ads. Has Obama put out ads about McCain's relationship with G. Gordon Liddy?
If someone at an Obama rally screamed "baby-killer" because McCain was a Vietnam vet, do you think Obama would be silent? When they even boo McCain's name, Obama tells them it's uncalled for. This isn't even about the crowd, it's about the reaction of the potential leaders. Has Palin or McCain shown any disdain for the people who do this? They encourage it with their silence. And stop playing the moral equivalency game because it won't work. Obama has done nothing as negative as this. NOTHING. Give examples or shut up. Your opinion is worthless when you can't back it with facts. Obama encourages positive thoughts at his rallies, not hate like the mutants at McCain's rallies.
When some fool scratches a backwards "J" into her hideous face and blames white people, let us know. Palin and McCain immediately called her so they could use the story as if it was Obama's fault. They don't want to win on the issues. Any thinking person sees that. They offer silence as the mutants scream their profanity.
I am a Obama supporter and I have to say the my fellow supporters should not take this election nor its victory for granted.It not won until its won. People will read the overated polls and the over confidence that Obama will win and some will stay home and not vote. Also I have been through many an election and have seen elections fall to the canidate that everyone knew was going to loose. Granted I have voted Rep all except once in the past 32 yrs and this will be my second time voting as a Ind for a Dem. Please everyone that says Obama is the winner. He isnt yet and by saying so you may be hurting his chances. Plus there are a few Rep playing Dem doing exactly that, to try to build the look of a definite Obama victory. I know the Rep party quite well and this is when they will use trickery, slander and smear and even lies and there isnt anything low enough they wont try. Keep the faith, dont fall for the edited tapes and trickery. Get out and vote and remember there are a hundred great reasons to vote this election and only one really bad reason not to vote and that is prejudice.-------------As a note to the above. This is the by product of hate filled type campaining by mostly Palin. The rep party should be ashamed of these kind of campaine tactics. Using edited tapes, sound bites, lies, deception to make your canidate look better can get people hurt. Not only that using the above along with fear tactics gets someone like GW in office. Very bad and I hold McCain and Palin as the teasers that make this stuff a posibilty.
Posted by: CW | Oct 27, 2008 7:43:28 PM
How dare you. An attempt to throw a planned assasination off as "nothing" is beyond belief. Palin's hate speech. along wih some members of the press, who put Obama's pastor before his positions (do you love your country as much as your pastor does?) encourage this culture - where hatred and divisiveness are fueled.
Posted by: Mara | Oct 27, 2008 7:45:31 PM
There were more racist cries at Palin's rallies today. Her response? Absolutely nothing.
Posted by: Mara | Oct 27, 2008 7:47:08 PM
Mara, not only do they yell horrid things, but in one clip I saw some piece of garbage behind Palin with a smirk on her face after someone yelled the N-word. Palin heard it, she said nothing. Nothing.
Sure, this is the person I want in the WH. Someone who doesn't have the guts to silence her own hideous crowd.
Posted by: Pam | Oct 27, 2008 7:52:03 PM
To Pam - You brought up the fact that the people in Ayers' sights were probably scared, too. Well, no kidding. The difference here is that Obama wasn't giving them mixed messages, now was he? He was 8 at the time. By contrast, McCain and Palin SHOULD HAVE spoken out against all this "Obama is a Muslim" crap and they CHOSE not to. There is nothing wrong with most Muslim people! They are saying "Muslim" instead of the "n" word. McCAin and Palin should have seen this coming. They were too busy trying not to make their campaign look bad that they turned a blind eye to this stuff. Palin even said "I have never seen this at rallies." Oh, really? McCain and Palin are not terrorists, and people should not be saying that they are. But they are also NOT forces for peace and good order, and they have not said ONE THING about all this bigotry.
Oh, and by the way, when I was 8, during the Vietnam war, war protestors bombed our house. I am not making this up. My father worked for a company that they didn't like. So, I know about being scared and I know about seeing my parents terrorized in the process. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, but they never caught the guys. I know all about being scared by terrorists, but I can see that you just think it's an opportunity to make some political points. Disgusting.
Posted by: Smarter than Palin | Oct 27, 2008 7:57:40 PM
With McCain and Palin all that can be done is to flood their offices with mail and e-mail demanding that they stop. Then flooding the offices of your own sen. and rep. asking them to edmand McCain and Palin stop.
With the likes of Fox or their programs, the only they that will take them down is money. Flood their sponsers with mail and e-mail boycotting their products until they stop advertising with Fox or a program on Fox.
Posted by: Anie | Oct 27, 2008 7:58:56 PM
Now what was the excuse for not giving the Obama camp Secret Service the information?
Would they have held back the information if it was McCain or Palin?
Would they have held back the information if it was a gathering of Republicans?
We all know what is going on. But we all pretend not to know. And we all pretend that we are surpirse when the Law Enforcement deliberately hold back important information that the Secret Service should have known. And to think there used to be a time when it did not matter whether a District Attorney was a Democrat or Republican. But the Bush administration changed that and now they all are Republicans. Gee, I wonder why they did not want Obama and his Secret Service to know?
If Obama wanted to emulate McCain's attack ads, we would hear robocalls in the Heartland informing America's patriots that McCain:
a) was in the pocket of former Lincoln Savings & Loan president and convicted criminal Charles Keating;
b) was buddies with fellow convicted criminal Republicans Ted Stevens, Tom Delay, Scooter Libby, Bob Allen, Trent Lott, Jack Abramoff, Don Young, Larry Craig, Randy “Duke” Cunningham, Tom Feeney, Alberto Gonzoles, Bob Ney, Rick Renzi, Richard Curtis, Steven Griles, Mark Foley...etc;
c) accepted political donations from the Watergate convicted criminal G. Gordon Liddy;
d) picked a runningmate mired in scandal (Troopergate) and has acted "unethical" according to her own people - - and doctored expense reports to bilk her taxpayers;
McCain has a lot to answer for. You can’t call yourself patriot while voting for criminals
Posted by: umtomcat | Oct 27, 2008 8:08:33 PM
Wasn't told about the plot? Why, not tough enough? What a wimp! This is nothing compared to the issues he would have to face if president (God forbid). If he's not tough enough to face this, he shouldnt' be president who would have to not only be tough, but honest and wise and experienced. Obama is none of these. Bad choice of president!!! But then, if elected,we'll find out won't we America?
His assisination would not be good for this country. I can do what is for the good of this country and that would be to best keep him alive and safe and that is to not be president.
I also know that it would be almost impossible to keep him protected. Today's ultra high powered rifles can blow through a manhole cover at a range greater than a mile. If someone wanted him, a vest or laminated glass isn't going to stop them.
So I must vote to keep Obama and America safe. That vote is not for Obama.
Anybody who stands up against racial intolerance will be a target. And, as someone else pointed out, there were attempts on the lives of Reagan, and Ford, and maybe even some on Bush that we don't know about. I'm an Obama supporter and I think this assassination plot story is bogus up one side and down the other. It's nothing more than voter intimidation tactics and I'd like to know the source of this non-issue leak. Two teenagers? Please. Teens are threatening to kill each other and blow up their high schools all over America everyday. Yet, somehow black voters should be intimidated by this? Please. Sounds like another botched TN Republican party-generated voter intimidation tactic to which I say, "they obviously don't know us."
Posted by: Obama Fever | Oct 27, 2008 8:23:01 PM
It surprises me that so many people are saying that McCain/Palin somehow incited these two crazies to plot this crime. I wonder if the same people believe that the Democrats in the 1980s incited that crazy kid to try to kill Reagan. This was a horrible, hate-filled plot - fortunately it was stopped before these two guys carried out their plan. But to blame it on any one other then these two guys is simply silly.
Posted by: Conservative Voter | Oct 27, 2008 8:50:28 PM
Posted by: Twylla | Oct 27, 2008 8:53:33 PM
To COnservative Voter: It's silly? You think that there is no link between Palin saying "pallin' around with terrorists" and people thinking that their actions are acceptable??
You would no doubt say that Palin is an influential persn, but yet you deny that her remarks are influential?
How does that work? Which is it - is she or is she not influential?
I do not care who's fault it is, or whether Palin incited it, or the Ayers stuff fueled it - this should not be happening in America. But they will never deter me. I am voting for Obama this week and there is nothing that can stop me. I am resolute and I'll give these people a message: You cannot stop hope.
Posted by: Charlie | Oct 27, 2008 8:56:28 PM
I knew the threats were going to come after McCain and Palin enticing crowd rage and shouts of "kill him", "off with his head", "terrorist", "traitor", etc, and then just smiling when these shouts were made. Actions have disappeared from the rallies now, but pursuit of thse same tactics have continued underground via robocalls and mailers. All approved of by John McCain and Sarah Palin. John McCain and Sarah Palin are actually encouraging anger and rage in people - and ultimately causing a possible assassination attempt upon Barack Obama.
They have chosen to conduct a dangerous campaign. Lewis warned them and John McCain rebuffed his accusations. At the debate John McCain said he was insulted of such accusations. He was actually proud of his crowds. And thus assumption can be made he was also proud of their shouts! 1+2=3. This is criminal!! And they and their groups should be held esponsible.
McCain and Palin could have made rally crowd stop immediately. Asked them to be polite. Stated they would not tolerate. But they didn't until almost a week + into increased hate reaction by crowd. News had put pressure on them and reaction by bloggers was intense!!
And FBI continued to hide people at their rallies. FBI not ltting public know how angry their crowds were/are. FBI would not even let media interview the crowd. Media is/was kept way at the back and they can't see or hear anything. But a few of the media have managed to still get some video footage and interviews. They were so angry, so very angry. Obama is a terrorist. He is a muslim. Goes on and on. Two camera men were attacked in Pennsylvania. And my guess the hate of the crowds is still be covered up.
How can FBI keep this from Obama??? This is outrageous!! I don't care if the threat seemed not that significant to FBI. This is Obama's life and he should of had his FBI apprised and be on extra alert. Obama has absolute right to know!! Is it because the FBI is under a Republican administration??
This is 2008 and this hate mongering and fear enticement, racial hate should not be tolerated. No one, and I repeat no one should psychologically encourage such actions.
I would expect to know if there was a threat against me. Would you expect notification????? Don't we have a right to know to take precautions???
And this sure doesn't have anything to do with which party you belong to. I am registered Republican and I expect.
Posted by: Sharonklim | Oct 27, 2008 8:57:25 PM
When McCain uses words like "dangerous" "terrorist" "socialist"and Palin uses words like "communist" to describe Obama they give license to these crazies. If something happens to our next president WE WILL HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE. I can't even imagine how terrified Obama's family must be. God stay with you Obama.
The Annenberg Challenge and the Woods Fund of Chicago funded numerous controversial groups while Barack Obama served on their boards between 1995 and 2002, an analysis of their tax returns shows.
In 2001, when Obama was a part-time director of The Woods Fund of Chicago, it gave $75,000 to ACORN, the voter registration group now under investigation for voter fraud in 12 states.
The Woods Fund also gave $6,000 to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ, which Obama attended. The reason for the donation to the church is unclear -- it is simply listed as "for special purposes" in the group's IRS tax form.
It gave a further $60,000 to the Children and Family Justice Center at Northwestern University, which was founded and run by Bernardine Dohrn, the wife of domestic terrorist William Ayers and, with her husband, a former member of the 1960s radical group the Weather Underground.
Other controversial donations that year included $50,000 to the Small Schools Network -- which was founded by Ayers and run by Michael Klonsky, a friend of Ayers' and the former chairman of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist), an offshoot of the 1960s radical group Students for a Democratic Society -- and $40,000 to the Arab American Action Network, which critics have accused of being anti-Semitic.
The Woods Fund did not respond to questions about the funding.
When Obama co-chaired the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which calls itself "a public-private partnership improving education for 1.5 million urban and rural public school students," it gave to some of the same groups -- partnering with ACORN to manage funding for schools and giving over $1 million to the Small Schools Network.
It also gave nearly $1 million to a group called the South Shore African Village Collaborative, whose goals, according to Annenberg's archived Web site, are "to develop more collegial relationships between teachers and principals. Professional development topics include school leadership, team building, parent and community involvement, developing thematic units, instructional strategies, strategic planning, and distance learning and teleconferencing."
But the group mentions other goals in its grant application to the Annenberg Challenge:
"Our children need to understand the historical context of our struggles for liberation from those forces that seek to destroy us," one page of the application reads.
Click here to see the application.
Stanley Kurtz, a Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, found the collaborative's original application when going through Annenberg's archives.
Asked to comment, Yvonne Williams-Kinnison, executive director of the collaborative's parent group, the Coalition for Improved Education in South Shore said, "I don't want to put more fuel on the fire. You can call us back after the election.... I don't want to compromise the position."
Late Afrocentrist scholars Jacob Carruthers and Asa Hilliard were both invited to give SSAVC teachers a training session, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge noted in a report, adding that the "consciousness raising session ... received rave reviews, and has prepared the way for the curriculum readiness survey session."
So, Obama--who has risen to where he is through intelligence and intention is an "affirmative action" candidate. Pay no attention to his experience as a constitutional law professor (oh to have a president who knows the constitution), pay no attention to how hard it is to become the Editor of the Harvard Law Review, pay no attention to his ability to build a 50 state campaign and bring together people of every age, ethnicity and culture to believe in the future of our country. Pay no attention to the way that people like Colin Powell and Arne Carlson and other conservatives speak of his once in a generation brilliance and temperament--his many parts aggregate into an exceptional man of character. But to you Angie, those attributes make him an "affirmative action" candidate.
Yet, McCain graduating fifth from the bottom of his class that he wouldn't even have gotten into at except for the legacy and connections of his father and grandfather. No--that isn't affirmative action. And, marrying the wealth and position to launch your political career--leaving behind your first wife in a very nasty manner--that isn't affirmative action.
It is silly reasoning like this that makes me furious as a person of color. You can still rise to the top and demonstrate your integrity and value and someone will accuse of not being ready or the right fit.
Yet, put up a candidate who lives off his father's name and his wife's money, played footsie with they key actors of the last major economic meltdown and you are perfectly qualified for the top post in the land.
For someone to argue thusly, is the embodiment of white entitlement.
McCain and Palin's inciting of public hatred has caused their not-like-Palin base to unite behind Obama and the rest of the country. I tend to focus on the fact that Obama is UNITING the country.
I won't buy into the right-wing scare tactics either. Obama knows what up and he is well-protected.
McFailin aren't the first to say it isn't right, nor have they been the second, third or fourth to say it isn't right. It is YOUR OPINION they don't think it is right, but they haven't SAID ANYTHING. Palin heard someone scream the N-word and she said nothing. Don't presume to give an opinion of what you "think" they'd say when they've already proven they're cowards who won't say anything. They were quick to speak to that fool who carved the "B" into her face, but have kept silent since we all found out she was a lying bigot. Now where's McCain to say anything? They tried to use the incident, just like Joe the Plumber. They want us buying into the lies, but no apologies when the truth comes out.
What personal attacks against McCain has Obama kept silent on? Quit with the b/s and come up with EXAMPLES. When was McCain personally attacked by Obama supporters where Obama said nothing?
Anyone? Yeah, thought so.
The Annenberg Challenge and the Woods Fund of Chicago funded numerous controversial groups while Barack Obama served on their boards between 1995 and 2002, an analysis of their tax returns shows.
In 2001, when Obama was a part-time director of The Woods Fund of Chicago, it gave $75,000 to ACORN, the voter registration group now under investigation for voter fraud in 12 states.
The Woods Fund also gave $6,000 to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ, which Obama attended. The reason for the donation to the church is unclear -- it is simply listed as "for special purposes" in the group's IRS tax form.
It gave a further $60,000 to the Children and Family Justice Center at Northwestern University, which was founded and run by Bernardine Dohrn, the wife of domestic terrorist William Ayers and, with her husband, a former member of the 1960s radical group the Weather Underground.
Other controversial donations that year included $50,000 to the Small Schools Network -- which was founded by Ayers and run by Michael Klonsky, a friend of Ayers' and the former chairman of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist), an offshoot of the 1960s radical group Students for a Democratic Society -- and $40,000 to the Arab American Action Network, which critics have accused of being anti-Semitic.
The Woods Fund did not respond to questions about the funding.
When Obama co-chaired the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which calls itself "a public-private partnership improving education for 1.5 million urban and rural public school students," it gave to some of the same groups -- partnering with ACORN to manage funding for schools and giving over $1 million to the Small Schools Network.
It also gave nearly $1 million to a group called the South Shore African Village Collaborative, whose goals, according to Annenberg's archived Web site, are "to develop more collegial relationships between teachers and principals. Professional development topics include school leadership, team building, parent and community involvement, developing thematic units, instructional strategies, strategic planning, and distance learning and teleconferencing."
But the group mentions other goals in its grant application to the Annenberg Challenge:
"Our children need to understand the historical context of our struggles for liberation from those forces that seek to destroy us," one page of the application reads.
This was a horrible, hate-filled plot - fortunately it was stopped before these two guys carried out their plan. But to blame it on any one other then these two guys is simply silly."
McCain's silence on all of this hatred spewed makes him responsible. No one screamed "Kill him!" about Reagan while Jimmy Carter stood silent at the convention. Do you people within the GOP take responsibility for ANYTHING? Bush was president for eight years and you won't even admit what he has done to our nation.
Obama Supporter Assaults Female McCain Volunteer in New York
As the media fumes over nonexistent hate at Palin speeches, it ignores leftists who go berserk on city streets.
While the Democrat-leaning media continues to scare undecided voters with bedtime stories about some mythical angry McCain supporter whom nobody has seen, here is a real district attorney’s complaint documenting an unprovoked assault by an enraged Democrat against a McCain volunteer in midtown Manhattan: “Defendant grabbed the sign [informant] was holding, broke the wood stick that was attached to it, and then struck informant in informant’s face thereby causing informant to sustain redness, swelling, and bruising to informant’s face and further causing informant to sustain substantial pain.”
Posted by: John | Oct 27, 2008 9:47:33 PM
The overly formal document doesn’t mention this important detail: the victim was a small, quiet, middle-aged woman wearing glasses, and the attacker was a loud, angry man who went into orbit at the mere sight of McCain campaign signs.
On a Monday afternoon, September 15, 2008, three McCain volunteers were holding campaign signs and distributing leaflets on a busy corner of 51st Street and Lexington Avenue. As they were peacefully talking to each other, they were approached by a man who, in the words of the victim, provided the impression of “a rather benign, doughy-looking guy — not a person I would have expected to assault me.”
Hope, Change and Molotov Cocktails
While the media obsesses over a couple of isolated comments at McCain/Palin rallies, the angry left is busy throwing Molotov cocktails at McCain supporters.
Change is coming!
PORTLAND, Ore. - Authorities have arrested two men after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a 4-foot by 8-foot campaign sign for Republican presidential candidate John McCain in a southeast Portland yard.
Karen Scrutton said she was asleep inside her home at 7956 S.E. 17th Ave. in the Sellwood neighborhood when she saw her sign go up in flames after 1 a.m.
"I screamed upstairs to my husband, 'Jean! Jean!" she said.
A neighbor heard a crash and chased off one of the suspects. Jean Scrutton said his son-in-law found another suspect not far away.
Not long after, investigators picked up Leslie Brockette Leudtke and Kevin Carl Robinson, both 23. After interviewing them, the pair was charged with four counts each of manufacturing and possession of a destructive device. In addition, Leudtke was charged with a single count of reckless burning.
Witnesses said the suspects threw a Molotov cocktail at the sign and used another as a torch.
The Scruttons worried that their home could have caught on fire.
"Our whole house could have burnt down," Karen Scrutton said while thanking her neighbor for intervening.
If this were the other way around, there'd be 24/7 network coverage about how our democracy is endangered.
H/T pw.
Meanwhile, we have more troubling accounts of election violence.
...residents woke to find the brake lines on their cars severed, their telephone and cable television lines cut, and political graffiti scratched into automobile paint and scrawled on their homes.
Posted by: John | Oct 27, 2008 9:51:05 PM
Give it a rest John. We've all seen that SOME Obama supporters are behaving badly. The difference is that Obama is not throwing gasoline on the fire. Palin IS, and McCain is watching her do it. They say things like "terrorist" and "communist" and they think people won't get riled up?
Obama is NOT egging people on with vicious labels.
I also believe, like many other posters commenting on this, that the smears from the McCain-Palin camp have sparked a dangerous fire.
The speeches Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin share with their supporters have planted seeds of hate. Well, the seed has germinated and seems to be taking root.
Now I can't help but think about high school shootings, even some teenage suicide cases. It's often suggested that these troubed teens found their inspiration to committ mass murder or end their lives through music, a movie, an idol or a book. They found a 'message' that encouraged them to follow through with their acts. The power of suggestion can be a very dangerous thing, especially if it is being heard by individuals with distorted views or mental illness.
Please, write the McCain-Palin campaign managers and express how important it is to stop this. The dangerous smears have to stop. A civil war is brewing!
It is people like you who are the real driver of hatred in this country.
Rush Limbaugh? You must be joking. How's the kool-aid? Do yourself a favor and actually listen to him before you spew your nonsense and hatred. Listen means actually listen, not get your talking points from moveon or huffington. Think for yourself and don't be a sheep.
So your solution is to ban speech you don't agree with politically. That will do wonders for your agenda, that is if your agenda is to start a civil war. A war you will lose.
It's fine if you don't agree with Sarah Palin's politics. Spewing your venomous attacks against her is what drives people to really hate you.
Would Obama, Dems Kill 401(k) Plans?
October 23, 2008 10:47 AM ET | James Pethokoukis | Permanent Link | Print
I hate to use the "S" word, but the American government would never do something as, well, socialist as seize private pension funds, right? This is exactly what cash-strapped Argentina just did in the name of protecting workers' retirement accounts (Efharisto, Fausta's Blog). Now, even Uncle Sam isn't that stupid, but some Democrats might try something almost as loopy: kill 401(k) plans.
House Democrats recently invited Teresa Ghilarducci, a professor at the New School of Social Research, to testify before a subcommittee on her idea to eliminate the preferential tax treatment of the popular retirement plans. In place of 401(k) plans, she would have workers transfer their dough into government-created "guaranteed retirement accounts" for every worker. The government would deposit $600 (inflation indexed) every year into the GRAs. Each worker would also have to save 5 percent of pay into the accounts, to which the government would pay a measly 3 percent return. Rep. Jim McDermott, a Democrat from Washington and chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee's Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, said that since "the savings rate isn't going up for the investment of $80 billion [in 401(k) tax breaks], we have to start to think about whether or not we want to continue to invest that $80 billion for a policy that's not generating what we now say it should."
you say that associating Obama to Ayers is creating hate? How about Obama associating McCain to Bush? Bush I think you will agree is probably hated a lot. A lot of people probably don't even know who Ayers is!
It is easy to punish someone who is up to do stupid mistakes in life.But people who blame them just dont understand that those perpetraters are forced to do those acts by someone who spits venom from their minds.They should be held responsible so that never ever they will come in front of public as a public servant.Those who influences uneducated kids to do these acts are the ones who should be jailed first.
This response was from a blog post asking if Obama and his wife let Ayers and his wife babaysit there kids.
May be true may not.
I live in Obama’s neighborhood and know some of the Obama / Ayers crowd. Ayers and Dohrn have babysat the Obama kids personally. The families are personal friends, not just professional acquaintances.
Just this past Saturday nite, I woke up out my sleep and what scare me was dreaming that Barack Obama has been to assassinate. This been clouding my mind all day Sunday. Then there a report come out on News about the alleged plot to assassinate Barack Obama. Believe are not I'm still shake that this came across my dream.
American, if something was to happen to Barack Obama as far as being assassinate because of his skin color and I pray it doesn't happen. There will be another Martin Luther King {RIOT}day when he was Assassinated.
With this being said, I pray to God that this election is for CHANGE for all mankind,women and for our children no matter what skin color we inherent. This would truly be a set back for all American here in the United State. Racism still engage in many forms and shape here in our society today at this time, in this century of 2008. Let hope that Racism doesn't play part in this election and in our coming up new Generation. May God bless
As an african-american, I'm amazed that NO ONE on this post is expressing any concern over these people wanting to kill and decapitate innocent black americans. Regardless of what you think of Obama, there is no way any rational human being can spin or justify this kind of hate.
It distresses me that there are people in this country who hear a story like this and brush it off and then try to counter with Rev. Wright, or the Nation of Islam as a comeback.
These people are content to just ignore the fact this country has a long and awful history of racism, not against whites, but against blacks. They are the ones quick to condemn black leaders for speaking out about racial hatred and injustice by crying reverse racism.
These people will never understand what life is like for black people in America. And they also don't care to understand or acknowledge the history.
Posted by: Kevin | Oct 27, 2008 10:54:21 PM
Here is my spin on all this.. Those of you screaming this is McCain and Palin's fault, shame on you. If you don't think there is racism in this country WAKE THE HELL UP! I grew up in a small country town in Oregon and never had to deal with racism till I moved to the south. Let me assure you it is alive and strong on BOTH sides. As for blaming the GOP grow up, those two idiots don't have the intelligence to watch/listen to politics and I am willing to bet even if they had they wouldn't understand 90% of it. They were acting out strictly from what they know and "believe" in and frankly I would then put their parents to the blame for racism breeds racism. Now I don't like either candidate, as a prior serviceman I don't think Obama has the experiance or the strength to deal with it, our freedom isn't free and there is more going on than the public wants to know and I don't think he has the stomach for it. McCain sure he does but I don't like his economic stance for sure. Am I against an African-American in the whitehouse? Absolutely not, I would have voted for Colin Powell over either of these two. I served under Gen Powell and had much respect for him and still do. If we are to put a minority in the whitehouse we need someone that is up to the job and is solid in where he stands and is fair to all classes and races. Face it if Obama gets elected and he doesn't pan out the way we all hope and pray there will be no end to the whackos out for his blood and it will be the last time we see a minority on the ballots. So before you all start flamming me, I am not against Obama, I am not against a minority president, I just don't like either candidate so it seems to me to be the proverial "vote for the lesser evil".
Posted by: I don't like either candidate | Oct 27, 2008 10:56:01 PM
Lonnie, you are the one with the fear and spreading it. I dreamed it, and it almost happened.
I have contacts in Law Enforcement, we are going to have riots if he wins or loses.
Loses angry mobs in the major inner cities.
Wins, mobs out celebrating, looting etc the Messiah has made it.
or worse, then the whole country will be up and arms and it wil be a bloodbath from Hell.
Law Enforcement is scared to death either way.
We do not need this kind of talk, when you say you dreamed it or fear it, it just adds to others apprehensions.
Kevin...I did express my concern in this post.Please check it out.As a matter of fact first time chants about "Obama is a terrorist" came out in Sarah Palin's rally..I expressed my concern that such attacks will prove dangerous and cited the reasons as well.Thats exactly is happening and to me one who incites this talk and urges no sense people to do or plan such heinous acts should be punished.Media should come forward and bring out those names of the people who are inciting those feelings in the minds of the people so that they will never show their face on national media as a public servant or as a journalist.
It is a respected political party and even had a former Governor as a member.
Posted by: John | Oct 27, 2008 11:10:54 PM
I would now like to enumerate what has now been proven about Obama (we're up to seven known facts / I welcome more contributions). He is: 1) a terrorist who, at the age of 8, was already an organizing member of the Weathermen; 2) a member of the Rezko crime family of the Chicago mafia; 3) a Marxist-Leninist who believed in regulating and nationalizing banks even before Bush did; 4) the head of a vast voter fraud conspiracy that uses acorns in order to trick squirrels into illegally stuffing ballot boxes with ballots filled out by Mexicans living and working illegally in Mexico; 5) the simultaneous reincarnation of both Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden [besides the obvious connections with Obama's surname and middle name, did you ever wonder why Obama started to go up in the polls right after we hung Saddam?]; 6) the anti-Christ [did you ever wonder why global warming (i.e. Hell on Earth), which is by the way not actually really happening, started to become a major issue just as Obama started to go up in the polls]; 7) an alien who will swoop down from the sky and suck out your brains. Am I leaving anything out? It is of paramount importance that this list be complete if we are to make sure that Americans really KNOW who Obama is. I sure hope Steve Schmidt is paying attention and makes sure a comprehensive factual advertisement is put out before Americans get duped!
Having grown up in the South, I'd say that it didn't take McCain and Palin's hate speech to cause these two idiots to come up with their abhorent plan (though I'd say it didn't help either). There are many poor, under educated whites that have been indoctrinated from birth with racial hatred as well as hatred of anyone who is different from the mainstream white culture. The idea that an African American is able to achieve something positive (education, a good job, political position, etc.) is abhorrent to them; they're going nowhere in life and feel they're being pushed even further down the societal and power hierachies. Unfortunately, from my experience they're also usually indoctrinated in a gun culture from birth. Combine these and you get a propensity for violent action as a way of handling their inadequacy (actual or perceived; for example, domestic violence, violence against other individuals, hate crimes against racial, religious and sexual minorities). This is the world that I've tried to get as far away from as possible after I graduated from high school. It's uncomfortable to go back to visit family any more as it's like being transported to the early 1960s again with the undisguised racism, the lowering rate of education, the idea that things have to be seen in terms of black or white with no shades of grey in between. Don't think for a minute that these two idiots are an anomoly and that they only exist in the South; they can be found in all over America.
Can't all of you people read between the lines, all of you want to believe is lies because you are narrow minded. Can't you see that Wright, Ayers and Rezko and all of the underhanded so-called low lifes have been hired to discredit Senator Obama. That is the only way that the Republicans think that they can win the general election, so, they can continue another 4 years of the corruption that has broken our economy and everything that is good for everyone. I pray to God Almighty to heal the blind even though they can see to open their eyes to the evil that is trying to takeover our country and the world. McCain and Sarah Palin are not for the people, their only aim is for the power that the presidency can give, that is why they are running such a sleazy campaign. People call Obama the Messiah, Jesus was the true messiah and he was crucified by his people that he loved so much, and died for, and he asked the Father to deliver us from all evil and temptation to forgive them for they not know what they do. Open up your heart and ask Jesus to come in to give you his blessing to heal your old wounds to forgive all your hurts, so you may be able to forgive and love everyone, that is all that God in Jesus name asks of us.
Like the Social Conservatives of the Republican party, Skinheads desire to force their extremist views onto all society. Skinheads hate people of color and Social Conservative hate Muslims. They believe being Muslims means Al-Qaeda. As a percentage the Republican party has more extremists than the Muslims. Of course they try to call it "Patriotism" and anyone that doesn't agree with their fanatical views must not be patriotic. In actuality their intolerance, lies and win at any cost is treacherous to our country.
Can't all of you people read between the lines, all of you want to believe is lies because you are narrow minded. Can't you see that Wright, Ayers and Rezko and all of the underhanded so-called low lifes have been hired to discredit Senator Obama.
Senator Biden stated that a Palin vice presidency would be a step backwards for women. About the same time the Obama campaign called the McCain/Palin ticket liars. “Politicians lying about their records? You don’t call that maverick … you call it more of the same.” This in reference to ‘The Bridge to No Where’, which despite Obama campaign claims, Palin did pull the plug on. Apparently changing ones mind on campaign finance, gun control, and the Fisa bill, are not lies just shifts in position; yet Palin is called a liar for having supported a different version of the bridge during her Governor’s race.
Posted by: John | Oct 27, 2008 11:53:21 PM
Then at a campaign stop Senator Obama addresses the McCain campaign’s call for change/reform by saying, “You know you can put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.” This upset some as it was perceived a rather rude and sloppy reference to Governor Palin’s convention joke about hockey moms. Now the Obama campaign has sent out an email calling the McCain/Palin ticket corrupt, “Their new ad uses what news organizations are calling “naked lies” to reinvent two politicians whose records embody the same culture of corruption and far-right policies we’ve seen from the Bush administration.” Again they’re referring to the ‘The Bridge to No Where’. Think one of those “news organization” that reported “naked lies” might be MSNBC or the New York Times? There isn’t space on the internet to report all the “naked lies” those “news organizations” have told. Either way the fact remains Palin did pull the plug on ‘The Bridge to No Where’ regardless of the Obama campaign’s anger and name calling.
Posted by: John | Oct 27, 2008 11:53:43 PM
So apparently hope and change are on vacation while Obama’s numbers sag. A new fresh style of politics will have to wait for Senator Obama’s political fortunes to improve. Maybe then we’ll all be ready for another dose of hope and change.
Update: The McCain campaign ran an ad challenging Obama on his “lipstick on a pig remark.” Obama responded, “Enough. I don’t care what they say about me, but I love this country too much to let [the McCain campaign] take over another election with lies and phony outrage and Swift-boat politics. Enough is enough,” he said.
Obama has some convincing to do if he thinks people believe he’s being swift-boated, while Governor Palin’s family, motherhood, and experience are being demeaned.
MCCAIN REFERENCED IN MURDER ATTEMPTS VIA FBI UPON OUR FAMILY AFTER LOBBYING AGAINST MCCAIN BACKED NORTHWEST AIRLINES FOLLOWING VICIOUS PROFILING ATTACK:
***>>>MCCAINATTACKS.BLOGSPOT.COM seen here
FBI's Co-Intel Pro role is known for not only Water Gate, but also murder of civil rights movement leaders re: Malcolm_X, Fred Hampton, M.L. King and involvement in the abduction of John Graham (American Indian movement member kidnapped over FBI interests in South Dakota Uranium Ore mining for war munitions) and Maher Arar,Canadian kidnapped from JFK airport and taken to torture in Syria. (MaherArar.ca)
.Northwest Airlines has been sued in the past via ACLU, was in bankruptcy protection at the time of the attack, and is now not only in a delicate merger with Delta, but the official carrier of the McCain campaign.
Ties between McCain/Republican Campaign and Northwest Airlines, the official Airline carrier for their campaign, coupled with the fact that McCain’s top executive legal council have Northwest and U.S. Chamber of Commerce as their top two clientele as exposed on the following sites: http://mccainsource.com/corruption?id=0006 and http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/08/northwest-airlines-supporting.php
McCain well known for his *volatile temper (according to over 30 civilian and military sources)*Keating 5 Scandal, Investment savings and Loan, and his Exxon Oil 4.3 Billion tax relief initiative under the bailout.
Stepping on McCain's Corrupt corporate agenda has precipitated attempts upon our lives:
By lobbying against his airline, more pressure has been brought to bear on the sensitive Northwest Air Delta Airlines merger currently ongoing hanging precariously in the balance, the airline finally out of their state of bankruptcy protection, which prompted the original attack upon us in Jan 06- it was a retaliatory attack in response to our having filed a written complaint against the airline for lying to my mother and I about why our baggage had not come off the carousel, she and only to find we had been profiled, the baggage locks cut and searched through with a note appended to it as such. As a civil action against the airline still amidst bankruptcy protection at the time did not bode well for corporate interests at hand, retaliatory entrapment ensued and only after my mother and I had successfully passed through security and were already on board, did stewardess Sherrie Caudill accuse her of harboring a “suspicious bag” following which U.S. airport police boarded and an attack ensued.
I had been assured I was not under arrest had not committed any crime and was not being charged- but could not return to Canada and would have to de board. Prompting them to simply give explanation of under what authority they were then acting, they did not respond and instead lit into me with a barrage of tasings and brutality leaving me bloodied in the isle, my mother looking on in horror, whereupon they then attempted to confine her to the plane when realizing in horror, that she was family as witness.
Extensive extrajudicial persecution (framed, covert tribunal housing FBI and Northwest Airlines employees on a illegitimate “jury pool”, threats, stalking, sabotaged mail etc) prompted us to expose their crimes on line.
This spawned repeated attempts via cross border collusion towards our kidnapping or murder by *criminally charged local Canadian Winnipeg police (acting covertly without warrant or charges) on behalf of U.S. judicial and corporate factions including FBI CIA and NSA, in attempt to silence us.
FBI Asset Winnipeg Police Chief Keith McCaskill: Local Canadian Winnipeg police remain motivated by a close affiliation with Minneapolis Police: Winnipeg Police Chief Keith Mc Caskill is president of North West Chapter of Associates FBI with Minneapolis Police affiliation and was referenced by police upon the first kidnapping/murder attempt. Family Friends Associates threatened, terrorized now 3 years ongoing as police use many covert tactics in order to effect attempts at kidnapping, having necessitated my going into hiding in remote locations for extended periods of time. Family and I have been traumatized, I with 12 trips to hospital with Heart Attack symptoms via combination of the effects of the tasing attack and ongoing persecution and my 64 year old mother's health rapidly deteriorating.
I have to say that I have never seen so much mindless rant in one place.
Three things are irrefutable. I don't think anyone has mentioned the following in a concrete way:
One: the Ayer's connection is the radical end of Vietnam protests, which has a close tie to the Civil Rights Movement. If you don't understand this extensive and complicated historical context, if you don't understand the acquisition of freedom and free speech that has gone one in America for over 150 years, then you are either a stupid American or a misinformed one.
This leads to #2: If you don't have a strong footing in African American history and the Vietnam era, then of course you can't understand someone like Ayers. For those who don't have this knowledge, here is a bit of solace: Ayers has kept his nose clean for some 30 years; where he needed to make amends, he (and his wife) have tried to do so. Now,this is not to say he has given up his views of Vietnam or his reasons for protesting in the first place. We might even ask if he has done enough to make amends. But, that is between him and the people he injured. However, it is safe to say that this now respected professor (and yes, the University of Chicago lets him walk freely on campus -- during these anxious days of university shootings) is past violence.
Three: and this one should be obvious to everyone: this country was founded on revolution. Unlike what many ill-informed evangelicals would like to believe, God did not step in and "hand us the silver platter".
So, if we want to make a comparison, today's evangelical republicans are more like the 18th century British loyalists, those people who feared change, that still believed in the centuries-old concept of the divine right of kings (as some believe in Bush's infallibility and his right for premptive war), and wished to retain a kind of British emperial status quo in America. British loyalists were not here for "freedom," but for imperialistic continuity.
On the other hand, the 18th century British Americans who thought divinity and king did not go hand in hand, decided to not wait and see who God would appoint as a new king. They may have loved God, but they defied the imperialistic code that tried to uphold divine right. So, those ill-tempered radicals dumped tea in the harbor and took freedom in their own hands, with weapons and words, and not with mindless, babbling prayer to a king that exploited God for greed and domination. Freedom is -- and always has been -- about the radical, not the conformist who invites and accepts domination as a governing force.
So, if you want to criticize black preachers and left-wing radicals, remember this: their philosophy is more in sync with the founders of this country than evangelical republicans who would rather hold onto their luxuries than look at America as a dynamic political force.
The real question is this: can we retain a free America without more guns? History probably says no, but I pray every day that we can. One could only hope that with so much history at our hands (and the opportunity to educate ourselves) that we could all take the time to learn and use our words, instead of our fists.
Hey Jeff,
Its not ok for for palin to question obamas past but its ok for obama to call Mccain the third bush term mccain is nothing like bush but that is the far left double standard just be silent Jeff.
why don't you ask obama to come to canada maybe it will save our nation.
Posted by: David | Oct 28, 2008 1:02:28 AM
I find it hard to believe that anyone would name a destroyer after you. Doesn't something like honor go with the military? Spraying racist comments is not what honorable.
In addition to your other inquiry: I've decided to absorb an education so I can be an educated voter.
And, my father served in WWII (POW); my grandfather in WWI. I love them dearly, and appreciate what they have done. But, I don't like to see their efforts or blood wasted on ignorance. You see, this has turned me into one of those school teacher types that love to correct people's misinformed views of American history. And, I know you can't believe this, but by golly getting an education and working is DOING something for your country; it makes you a good voter, among other things; it is much harder to gain an education (and to figure out how to use it) than sitting around, raving like a lunatic.
Sorry for the sarcasm, but it is disturbing that you have so much hate; what a load to carry. It has to be personal: who did this to you? Maybe education can't solve everything. However, if you give self-education a chance and pick up some decent history books, maybe you can learn something. Start with the American Revolution.
Does anyone find obama and the dems a problem.
Posted by: Chris | Oct 28, 2008 1:05:49 AM
Isnt it amazing. Im just as passionate about my party as the next guy. But to go to the extent as some do in the blogs above just blows my mind. I work, my wife works, one kid in college, two in high school, morgage, no dental, cant afford to smoke or drink or go to NFL games. I know im more fortunate than most, and am willing to pay my fair share (more than fair)as one of countless middle class tax payers that support 99% of our nation's programs so that others can have a leg up in life. But please, dont paint me a NAZI just because i hold a different political view than you. Its downright unamerican.
I dont agree with Obama, i hope he loses. But if he wins, I'll give him a chance and hope he proves me wrong. The ironic thing is, that none of you truly knows how either will do when elected. So cut the hatred, and act like civilized americans.
Posted by: middle class guy | Oct 28, 2008 1:11:31 AM
You're from Germany? Or, you're a German descendent? Do you buy into Nazi politics, facism?
My dad's B-17 bombed the heck out of Nazi strongholds. At 83, my dad is much less racist than you; he sympathizes with Holocaust victims and understands that Americans don't need a dictator; he understands that actions define the individual, not skin color. We don't need race to decide the issues.
Posted by: Kellie | Oct 28, 2008 1:12:04 AM
Education and brain washing are two different things but be sure that I don't just jump on the ban wagon to follow a racist like obama but you call me a racist I don't belong to groups like that but obama does and I served my country honorably so has every man in my family and unless you have been in the military you have no right to comment about it kiss obama's butt if you want but don't you dare question my service.
Posted by: Chris | Oct 28, 2008 1:14:40 AM
Hi Middle-class guy,
My comments are for Chris, not you. But keep in mind that racist politics are,in reality, just another kind of Nazism. Racist people want to dominate and eliminate what they fear, and this has no place in a civilized society. It is up to all Americans to counter racism, wherever they see it.
Posted by: kellie | Oct 28, 2008 1:19:08 AM
But that's whats happening nobody questions anything about obama because he's black do you think that is right Kellie.
Posted by: David | Oct 28, 2008 1:19:49 AM
Yes I am a German descendent, and I find that the us got into something they should have of not been involed in just like every other war we have been in.
Posted by: Chris | Oct 28, 2008 1:26:35 AM
Chris,
As an American, it is my duty -- and every other citizen's -- to question and condemn racism where and when I see it. Possibly, the war with Nazi Germany could have been avoided if Germany's citizens had been more stringent with this.
Furthermore, and you won't like this, but your military record does NOT exempt you from criticism. Nor, would it exempt my father, if he spouted off like you. Criticizing your views on politics is not the same as criticizing your military record. Being a good soldier does not necessarily make you a good politician or a moral person.
Posted by: kellie | Oct 28, 2008 1:27:45 AM
Middle-Aged guy,
Question Obama's health plan, question his experience, question his tax plan, question his voting record, but when did any of this ever have to do with race or religion? Anyone should favor a comparison of fact, but racism warps our reasoning; it should not decide a vote.
Posted by: kelllie | Oct 28, 2008 1:30:52 AM
Kellie,
chris makes some good points maybe you need the education.
Posted by: David | Oct 28, 2008 1:33:26 AM
Kellie I don't have a problem with someone who questions my politics but you questioned my honor that you don't have the right to do just like nobody has the right to question your fathers because I have alot of honor morals to I'm not someone who runs around like the rest of the people my age doing a different girl every night giving young people a bad name and I don't run around with my butt hanging out because its on MTV I have family values that are dead in todays society.
Posted by: David | Oct 28, 2008 1:45:43 AM
Yeh! Obamas going to win and he's going to take from those who have TAKEN SO MUCH these past 8 years! So much we're in a financial disaster. Repubs talk about bustin' their butt for that money and they deserve it but that's a bunch of BS. They take, take, take, send jobs overseas to make more profits, cut the wages to make more profits, cut insurance for employees, to pocket that money, cut pensions and retirements and attempt to keep the national minimum wage so low that you couldn't afford health insurance for a family of 4 with your entire months salary!
Anti-American, isn't that starting a war over false witness (very bad people do that in the Bible and they're going to hell, so it says - same God then, same God NOW, same God forever!) Lying to people and getting busted on CNN everynight on the "Keeping them honest" segment - LIARS! (Also an offense that sends you to HELL!) This war has now tarnished the reputation of the USA and started a glabal financial meltdown. You can steal only so much of an economy before it crumbles. The criminals BUSH/CHENEY have pushed the envolope too much and now we're paying the price for our stupidity in electing these crooks. Ruining our reputation is NOT good for American thus ANIT-AMERICAN.
Repubs keep pointing the finger and describing themselves! Basic Psycology that messed up people do (mostly drug addicts and thieves when busted).
By the way Congratulations BUSH! Fidel Castro has given you his approval in following Cuba's policies in your new socialist banking program! Thanks John McCain for supporting Bush's socialism and showing us your TRUE colors! McCain is a bought a paid for politician. 122 lobbyists in his staff. Palin is a puppet that reads a telepromter like a new reporter, professional. Nothing more. She doesn't have all that much upstairs anyway if you know what I mean.....
Go Obama, for the betterment of 95% of Americans, not just the 5% elite!!!!!
Posted by: JB | Oct 28, 2008 1:49:11 AM
Kellie
The US went after Germany because the things they belived in alot of people in us had the same views at the time the US went to war with Germany because it was causing such a growing movement in the US and the government feared an uprising so they painted it with a different color to sell it as something bad thats what our country does thats all they have ever done hell you talk about history how about putting German citizens of this country into internment camps and holding them for six years after the war was over they held Japanese people until the war was over in such a great nation thats an injustice and to call Germany the bad guys how dare they. The us didn't even give German citizens the chance to leave atleast Germany gave the jews a chance to leave.
Posted by: Chris | Oct 28, 2008 1:56:11 AM
Ah yes, you had to say it, i am middle aged.
BIG DIFFERENCE...race will decide this vote...racism is another subject altogether. A few weeks back, a "non-partisan" voter registration drive showed a black volunteer signing up black voters encouraging them to vote in an "historic" election. Did he mean because John McCain is the oldest man to run for President? Or did he mean you should vote "black" this year? Now, is it "racism" (your words) to vote color or race? How can it be that 95% of the black vote is going for Obama? Are they voting policies and records or voting race? The hispanic vote is the same way in local elections in California. The diffence is, I would never say that they are racist based on how they cast their vote.
Do i dare ask the question at the risk of certain condemnation...why are we critical of white people voting for white people? Is it always a double standard? By the way, I would have voted Condy Rice or Powel in a heartbeat...would have been a much easier pill to swallow that my guy this round.
Hey JB,You want to blame the right person for the economy you need to blame Bill Clinton (a.k.a. Bill Clintler) for this mess let me give you some economic education the economy runs 8-10 years behind the reason clinton had it so good was because of Regan now let me put it simple if clinton would not have come into office and raised taxes then listen to Greenspan and let wall street turn debt into stock we wouldnt have this problem. NOBAMA
Posted by: Chris | Oct 28, 2008 2:12:43 AM
If JFK attended a church for over a decade that openly critized people of color and made anti american remarks, he would have never been elected.
Asking a few legitimate questions about Obamas affiliations is not asking too much of the man who will lead our country.
Its not all about race!!! some people just want to know if this guy holds the same views as some of his whacko friends!!! Its so easy to cement McCain to Bush because he was in the same room with the man, what the difference with making the assumption that Obama holds some of the same views as those he chose to associate with? seems fair to me.
middle class guy don't you know if you don't jump on the ban wagon you must be racist all because you exercise your right to know its just like their are black colledge funds,Black Entertainment TV, and even black history month if we had anything like that. It would be racist the double standard is going to get worse if obamas elected.
Posted by: Chris | Oct 28, 2008 2:22:30 AM
First of all these two people were racist long before McCain, Palin and Obama pressed into the political spotlight by running for office. However, the McCain camp has been spreading hate messages about Obama or months now. Calling him "That One" or implying that Obama is Muslim, Arab, a terrorist, un-American, etc.. Sane people like us know its all political attention grabbing and none of it is true. That said, by saying these things people assign meaning to it. Words have power and people blindly accept what they are told or hear. So it is little surprise it draw up from the bottom of the barrel os humanity to find scum like these. Shame on McCain and Palin for letting it go so far. But these kids have brains and have failed to use them.
Posted by: Don | Oct 28, 2008 2:28:12 AM
To Kim:
How can you compare something that happened 40 years ago under vastly different circumstances to the public killing of a major presidential candidate and many others in 2008? I can't even imagine how you and your fellow supporters can live with yourselves after everything that was said at YOUR CANDIDATES' RALLIES! I hope that God forbid, nothing happens to Barack and/or Joe...they're exactly what the country needs right now...not racist, homophobic, hateful morons like you and your candidates.
Posted by: David | Oct 28, 2008 2:41:35 AM
The behavior of McCain/Palin has been beneath contempt, and even though Palin did most of the dirty work, McCain is on the top of the ticket, and he should have denounced her remarks from the beginning and demanded she apologize. This campaign of McCain has been shameful, and makes our country look like slime in front of the world.
Don't tell me that these people haven't been encouraged by McCain/Palin's statements about Obama, and it should have been clear from the beginning, that racial comments were out of line. It is hard to imagine a man running for the presidency of the United States of America in 2008, would stoop to such racial hatred in front of the world. McCain is no friend of mine or of the country.
Posted by: Mary | Oct 28, 2008 2:49:59 AM
Hey Middle Class Guy! I bet your white? good guess right?
How do you get your facts so screwed up! Reagan ran up so much debt that at the time was the biggest national debt in the history of this country. His "Star Wars" debacle put us trillions in the hole. Bush Sr. just made it worse. We were in a RESESSION (the last one)after the Repubs of the 80's were in power. Clinton BALANCED the budget and gave Bush Jr. a surplus. You are so far off on your facts that I think you are 18 or something and can't REMEMBER what was really going on with Reagan and Bush. By the way, Reagan is the one who created the homeless problem with his cutting of mental ill hospitals and throwing them all on the streets to fend for themselves. Shame on these Anti-Christ actions of the Rebuplican Hypocrites. May their future in Hell be long and may time there go slow!
Basic Economics pal, if you cut your income and then go on spending sprees you'll soon be broke. Repubs cut taxes for the "Greedy Old B*stards" club and then WAY OVERSPEND on Haliburton and Military contracts. 10,000% more than all the pork in a year!
Once again supposed Middle Class guy, you are pointing the finger and saying EXACTLY what the Repubs are doing and have been doing for decades! Keep pointing in the mirror pal, Repubs had the congress for the 1st 6 years Bush was in power and did NOTHING to stop this crises, in fact THEY are the ones who deregulated and deregulated all in the name of smaller govt. Smaller Govt. helps the crooks steal more and they did. If you have a crime spree you hire more police, not less.
The Repubs are going to be B*tch slapped in this election though, you will NOT have the Congress, You will NOT have the house and you will NOT have the Senate. May you and your corupt polititians fade away like the Mexican PRI (conservative) party did who stole elections their for 75 years and created the poverty you see their now. That kind of poverty is the Republican goal.
I was reading a few of these posts and see that this plot is (in some folks minds) somehow feuled by McCain/Palin or the right. Too many fools igore the past in this country and don't realize several things. Obama is bound to be a target for 2 main reasons. First and foremost is his color, study American history and note that this is a legacy of racial hatred. Some members of a particular race hate members of other races for just that, race. This is not solely a the white race's posession as there are (believe it or not,) balck who hate whites. By the way, far more blacks kill blacks than do whites, and I am sure the reverse is true. Secondly, Obama is a popular politician (and likely the next President) and people do shoot politicians and Presidents in particular (remember JFK?) Also sadly, this country and indeed world has never been kind to young men with a dream. This whole thing in general is a cancer, and like most cancers, there are more than one cause of it. As long as we group ourselves, to ourselves under labels like red, blue, neocon, liberal, black white, whatever we will never get ahead. Instead of a member of one race calling other members of that race, be it black or white, brother or sister, they are by implication, excluding other members of their extened family, the brotherhood/sisterhood of man from thir circle. We have to be one or sooner or later we will die.
OVERLOOKED DEDICATION
We have, until now, neglected to discuss an issue far graver and greater than most of the prattle and banter volleyed back and forth between the pundits and analysts, the news-anchors and talk-show hosts. Perhaps media have not mentioned it fearing that to speak it will increase risk. But in my experience, turning a blind eye on reality never makes it go away, rather, it allows it to fester. Perhaps to mention this particular issue seems too distasteful. But to neglect discussion of the issue is to commit two crimes. First, we belittle one of the candidate’s faith in, and dedication to the country. Second, we fail to take a true and deep look into the mirror and admit a hard truth about our nation.
Barack Obama is embarking on a mission of service to his country far more grand and every bit as dangerous as any in which John McCain took part. No doubt every night Michelle Obama prays for the safety of her husband. No doubt countless people, black, white and every shade between likewise pray for Barack Obama’s safety. Can anyone believe that Barack Obama doesn’t every day consider the real and looming possibility that, because of the darkness of his skin, he will be the victim of the darkness of another’s soul? If I think about it every day, and I do, then so does he and his family. And yet he and his family have not backed down from the desire and effort to lead this country of promise back to an ideal of justice and honesty; grace and goodwill—qualities which have been assaulted and left by the side of the road in the past few years.
We have seen our leader, George W. Bush, hijack America by willfully instructing his cabinet to invent convincing reasons to invade Iraq, knowing that the truth held insufficient cause for his desired invasion. The high ideals and nobility of the USA have fallen into corruption, deception and aggression. Our leader has truly led us astray. We are left isolated and with troubles on every front. It is not upon might, aggression and deception that the greatness of this nation has been built and grown, but upon justice, equality, goodwill and freedom. We cannot afford a continuation of this “right makes might and might makes right” policy and politics.
It is indeed time for change. And Barack Obama is the true agent of change. A man does not have a vision; rather the vision has the man. We who have heard Barack Obama speak know intuitively that we are listening to a man who is possessed with a vision. His is the vision of an America that strives not to dominate the world, but to create peace and harmony in the world. His is a vision of an America that caters not to the very rich and powerful, but gives opportunity to the vast majority of citizens who have suffered under the economic plans of George W. Bush and John McCain. His is a vision of an America that doesn’t rape nature to feed our needs, but learns to live in harmony with biological earth. Barack Obama has a vision for a better, more noble America—an America that mirrors the high ideals and actions of our more noble past leaders and citizenry. Dare we let ourselves return to belief in such high ideals, in nobility? Dare we not? I have heard some say in relation to him that talk is cheap. But he is literally laying his life on the line in order to follow and serve that vision and our country. His actions speak louder even than his words.
But more than simply taking a personal risk, by running for president, Barack Obama has proved his faith in us, the American people. His actions reveal that he believes we the American people have evolved beyond the insanity of racism and hatred. A vote for him is a vote of confidence in the American people, that we can indeed move beyond the shame and ugliness of our racist past. It is also a vote to forgive our past, move forward, and not look back except to learn and grow. A vote for Obama is a vote for a noble leader with a noble vision of change; but it is also a vote for a noble country to make a noble change.
Incredible to read these comments - to see how emboldened these neo nazis are that they would not fear identifying themselves to the FBI by commenting in this section! Why, I wonder? Could it be that when a Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate speak such hateful lies against a black candidate, it opens the Pandora's Box? I pray, pray, pray every day that an army of God's angels will surround Obama and his family for the rest of his life. And please put an extra batallion of Secret Service agents who are not part of the underground american terrorist organizations that espouse this hatred on Obama's detail. We don't want them looking the other way, please! Keep Obama Safe!!! If anything happens to him, you will be able to lay part of the blame at McCain/Palin's feet! Shame on them!
I don’t like Obama but I wish him no physical harm and his wife and children should be protected at all cost. .... Face it, the ATF dropped the ball, again. At least for once the ATF did something that didn’t violate the Constitution and didn’t cause the death of 86 innocent people. At least this time they saved lives instead of taking them.
Hey Chris and also the Middle-Aged white guy,
Yeah, to the two guys who posted their uneducated plugs last night. If you don't know the difference, then consider this:
At their heart, all wars are started over money. Now, this in itself has nothing to do with race, but someone always has to be the scapegoat when times get tough, right? That is why your comments concerning Obama are essentially "racist". Middle-Aged white guy is more concerned with experience; that is not a race issue; on the other hand, you have no grip on American history; your ignorance of the civil rights era forms your opinion of Obama as a terrorist.
In a land of educational opportunity, choosing to remain stupid about such issues is evil. One more question for you: if you were a black man in the 50's to the 70's, what would you have done? Your mouthy enough, I bet you would have been a member of some civil rights group; you would have wanted America to recognize you as an equal member of this country. Of course, public protest takes courage, and many black people lost their lives because they stood up to the majority; maybe you don't have that kind of moral code?
Do you want to know what a cause is that causes someone to be bitter towards minorities?
I'll give you an example.
Imagine you are a student at the top of your class in college. You have busted your butt to ensure you get every award and highest gpa possible. You also know full and well that a couple of particular companies always hire the top of the class.
A couple of weeks till graduation those prominent companies send their headhunters in to school to hire the cream of the crop. Butterflies fill you and you know that this is what it is all about. All the sacrafice is about to pay off.
To your suprise you never get talked with. Later that day, a fellow classmate and friend, a minority and someone with the lowest gpa in the entire class gets THE job. Anywhere on the map where they have an office, they will move him. All of the debt acquired for school, gone. Living expenses paid. Starting salary higher than what is traditionally paid.
Why? Rememeber he had one of the lowest gpa's in the class. I also know that a couple of req'd classes were failed. Yet he lands the dream job.
So you say we must work hard to not be racists. If you really want racism to end, treat all of us fairly. Ending racism is not giving special treatment to minorities.
Posted by: Rubbed wrong | Oct 28, 2008 9:25:30 AM
If something happens to Obama, McCain and Palin will have blood on their hands as it was their race-baiting words that inspired and incited the dangerous racist fringe elements in the far right. Most especially guilty is that Palin, her speeches outrightly race-baiting and divisive, were targeted to the extreme right that are well known racists and antisemetics and has been evidenced as so by videos of the most base groups of our society waiting in line to attend her rallies and filling the seats at her rallies - spewing their hate-filled racist commentary on video. Palin is nothing but a beacon for hate, racism and intolerance and is being hailed as the new leader within the repug party - we always knew this but now there is clear evidence of what repugs stand for - hate-mongering, fear-mongering & racism ...
Obama's best friend Bill Ayer has inspired for these acts!
Posted by: Frodo | Oct 28, 2008 11:41:37 AM
Best friend? Uh yeah, I saw them holding hands at the park the other day. \
Geez "frodo" get your head out of mccain's butt.
The Ayer's ordeal has been out in the open for ages. And the truth is, they were both, along with a bunch of REPUBLICANS on the REPUBLICAN FINANCED Annenberg foundation education board - the same Annenbergs that donated money to, you'll never guess, MCCAIN!!! Does that mean McCain is "best friends" with those that donate money to terrorism?
No.
David, Chris, Rob and all the rest of you posting these racist rants. I want an intelligent answer to this question why do you believe Obama is black and not white he is 50% of each so why is he black? Why do you believe that Obama was so influenced by 20 years of what you call hate by Rev Wright ( which by the way you have not heard 20yrs of hate you heard portions of 2 sermons which Rev Wright never said anything about hating whites he spoke about sins of the government some of what he said was outraegous and promoting hate but he never said he hates whites) Anyway why do you believe that Obama would be more influenced by Rev Wright than by his own mother and grandparents who raised him? Most people would say that they are mostly influenced by their family. Maybe if there weren't so many people like you in the world Obama wouldn't have to choose one part of his identity over another he could be seen as white and black which is exactly what he is. For Obama to hate whites would mean he hates himself get that through your head!
I am an independent voting for Obama. As to the reference to Ayers. Nobody is denying that his acts were despicable. Any acts of violence to influence a people is WRONG! My problem with the McCain/Palin campaign is they are trying to make Obama a terrorist by such a LOOSE association, and they are willing to use their hate mongering to get more votes. In my opinion that is not much different than the above NeoNazis. And the fact that Palin is such a hypocrite to refuse to name an abortion bomber as a terrorist. An abortion clinic bomber is using violence to influence people. Absolutely the same as Ayers, and the fact that she refused to acknowledge that is very TROUBLING. Again it illustrates to me either she has believes it is o.k. or she is willing to do whatever it takes to whoo her conservative base. We do not need more hatred & violence in America. Compare Obama's language to Palin's. Starkly contrasting. Obama speaks of unity, forgiveness, humility.
In response to the person who said there should be the same kind of outrage at Bill Ayers, I have a little history lesson for you, since you wont bother opening up a book. The Weather Underground sent warnings before they blew anything up. THey sent letters in advance so that there would be no civilian's hurt or killed. The only people killed in that war were Weathermen, when they accidentally blew themselves up. Their original name was Students For a Democratic Society. Their war was not against the American people. It was against the government. You know, that government that you all hate for wasting all your tax dollars on stupid wars and bailing out Wall Street??
I can hardly believe the hatred i'm seeing on this blog. To try to take one's precious life because of their race today is almost unheard of. I think about and can only imagine what it must have been like during slavery times. You would think this type of hatred would be done away with by now. But, from what I'm seeing here, is that it has not gone away. McCain and Sarah did start spreading this type of hatred in the campaign rallies. Obama has not attaked them in this way at all. He has literally turned the other cheek. That's what christians do.
do'neal......obama '08. You Go Obama!!!!
As this situation shows, racism is still very much alive in this country.
There are so many people who are against Obama; not because of his political views but only for the color of his skin. Rush Limbaugh emphatically stated that Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama was because of race. And of course, he (RL) thinks that is wrong. I agree that it is improper for a person to endorse a candidate because they share the same skin color. However, Colin Powell eloquently stated his reason for his support and race was not a factor. But I think about - how many people will NOT vote for Obama strictly because of his color? Is that any more proper? I certainly don't hear Rush Limbaugh talking about that fact. As one reporter stated, no one says that a white person endorses another white candidate because he/she is white. He was right on point with that one. But the instant an African-American supports another African-American is because of his/her race. I guess we blacks are just that shallow, huh?
This hatred that these two "males" (I can't even call them "men," "people," or "humans")have expressed clearly shows that there are people out there who can't get past Obama's skin color and the mere thought of him being the next leader of this country, outrages them. It's so sad.
McCain got upset because Rep. John Lewis compared him and Sarah Palin to George Wallace. Those may have been some harsh words and they obviously didn't make McCain feel good, but at least no one made threats against their lives. If Obama does become the next president (which I truly hope he does), unfortunately, his life will be in greater jeopardy than any other president that's ever lived. Why? Because he is black and for no other reason. Sad. Really sad.
I'm not going to blame McCain, Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. for the racism that still exists in our country. Sadly enough, these feelings have been passed down for centuries. But I will say that McCain, Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. have not done enough, if anything at all, to stop these racist views. Hey McCain - how about repudiating what these males attempted to do, huh?
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stated in his "I Have a Dream" speech that "one day, his children will live in a nation where they would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." It's been over 40 years since he had that dream. It still hasn't come true.
Finally, one last thing. So much is said about the "elite" media bias. I beg to differ on this argument. So much attention is paid to Palin's rhetoric on Ayers, and yes the media has done a fairly good job about being neutral in reporting, but to contrast I have not heard but one refence to Palin's refusal to identify an abortion facility bomber a terrorist. Not one reference in the mainstream media. They want to criticize her on her clothes, but why not question her refusal of this most obvious case of terrorism? This seems to be a bias in the other direction.
very curious,To answer your question because obama keeps company with the black community not the white at all everything he has done and talked about has been for the black community now I ask what about Mrs. Obama's comments about america and how its not safe for a black man to buy gas at 2am in chicago I've been to chicago its not safe for anyone at 2 am and when you look around at 2 am in the city of chicago who do you see killing, theft, rape and god knows what else its the blacks now I'm sure you think its white peoples falt obama spent time in the legislature its his problem he had the power to fix this problem but never did he voted present yea way to go obama he is just such a great do nothing all he can do is give a speech thats not enough to be president not for me anyway.
Posted by: chris | Oct 28, 2008 2:33:52 PM
Hey candie thats way powell is for obama
Posted by: chris | Oct 28, 2008 2:38:11 PM
The media shows you what they want you to see and are bias to the far left but let me tell you its just like with Rodney King and other issues they show what they want to inspire a reaction the media should be charged under the criminal code.
Posted by: chris | Oct 28, 2008 2:42:20 PM
Yea the media shows what they want to make people burn cities to the ground to have more news now they are covering obama more than mccain so they can run the election and all the liberal sheepal because they know these people can't think for themselves the media plays on the weak minded.
Chris!
Glad to see your back; now, you know that your mind is set about Obama, but I've got to give this a shot and see if I can't convince you...
You said that you are from Germany...well, if you have lived there, what is it like?
My nephew lives there; he works for Michelin as a mechanic. His wife works for their small town. Get a load of their benefits in a so-called "socialist" democracy...
Nephew:
-8 weeks vacation a year.
-travels all over Europe on the Euro-rail
-daughter and son are bi-lingual; actually, his daughter speaks French, German, and English.
-wife has a guaranteed job in the city government. Gets a small, monthly pension when she has maternity leave.
Now, no one tells them what to drive, where to live, where to work, how to spend their free time. They are by no means rich, but they are happy and their kids have received excellent educations. And, healthcare is free.
What do you do for a living?
We own government...not the president. With McCain in the pockets of corporations who have not had their stockholders in mind, why would you think Obama is the crook?
And last, if you attend Harvard (which my youngest and very white, blond-haired nephew does; he graduates in the spring) you associate with people from all colors and ethnicities. You need your brains at Harvard, not your skin.
And oh, I should mention: there is no such thing as RACE; there is ethnicity, which determines how and where you were raised. Even with all of these different skin colors we see, there is not a significant physiological or biological difference between groups of humans to classify them as separate races. We call prejudice "racism" because of one thing: people CHOOSE to separate other people by their skin color.
u should read more carefully KJ. it said there were different forms of killing for both african americans and the other 88 people. and everyone else this was just talk overheard. nothing actually happened -.-
Posted by: yagr | Oct 28, 2008 7:45:17 PM
Does it matter to nazi lovers, or any racist for that matter that something "didn't" happen?
There are several people harboring some radically prejudiced thoughts that are posting to this site. Not all Americans think that everyone should be on free and equal terms.
Posted by: kellie | Oct 28, 2008 8:07:28 PM
McCain and Sarah Palin look like father and daughter at a circus each time they are in the campaign trail. lol
Posted by: what667 | Oct 28, 2008 8:56:58 PM
Not even elected yet and he has had threats to his life!! Robert Kennedy revisited. What a shame!!! I am so scared for him and his family!!
Posted by: atomheartmother1 | Oct 28, 2008 10:41:59 PM
Look Kellie I'll say it one more time if obama is elected you will see what bad is I have been to germany and things are very different there vers here if Germany had less gun laws I would have moved there a long time ago during the Bush term because while I may not like the democrat's I don't like Republican's the reason I vote republican is because they leave guns alone they don't play god with baby's lives by sucking them through a tube into a trash can and they follow our constitution the best the fact is I see our country on the edge of another civil war and I see it happening if obama gets elected we need to stop forcing federal laws down the states throat and for your info I have a criminal justice degree from Northern Kentucky University and I now work in auto manufacturing and its a hard buisness to be in because sales are low but this has gone to this extreme because of the goverment and it lands more at the door step of the democrat's than republican's because the democrat's want unions and unions are whats killed auto sales they drive the wages up so up goes the price people can't afford $30,000 for a car and us auto makers are almost out because they have full retirement and survivor benifits for people who yes did a had job but for 20 plus years have made $30 an hour if you can't save for your old age making that much then you get what you get but should they get almost full pay till they die hell no. We as americans have created this economic problem with greed and electing that numb nuts from arkansas because lets be clear he created the problems in the financial market now when Bush came in he should have had the republicans get oil drilling opened in anwar and of the coast because at the end of the first Bush term we imported about 24% at the end of the clinton term we imported 62% and in that time lost 6 oil refineries due to age and using them til they blew up clinton was told they need to rebuild clinton said no because he wanted to get away from oil that was dumb this all shows there ideas. I don't care what it does to the planet as long as I don't have to pay $4 a gallon if gas had stayed below $2 a gallon and we went into a bad economy things would not have gone to this point becuse now we have high priced gas, goods, and commodities. This all started with clinton but nothing was done by Bush to stop it until it was to late now I will vote the party that didn't stop it before I will vote the party who's responsible for it.Lets not forget obama and Rashad Khalidi that just shows even more what obama is I say we split the country up and segregate that way everybody gets what they want obama people can have obama and other races can have who they want.
A vote for obama is a vote for the death of Israel
Posted by: chris | Oct 29, 2008 5:25:03 PM
Most of these "white supremacy" and "racial skinhead" groups are populated by individuals with about as much brainpower as your average pet rock. They're stupid, ignorant, uneducated numbskulls who identity with hate-mongers because they don't fit into any other segment of refined society. Sure, they can make websites and spew hate, but when you sit down to talk to them for more than a few minutes, their idiocy and lack of education shines through, loud and clear. Pathetic lunheads is what they are, mostly. THey couldn't pull off the assassination of a plastic lawn ornament without fouling it up, let alone an elected official who actually moves... with bodyguards. LOL
