The Highfield Mole is the second "most collectable" book of 2007, according to an analysis of books priced more than £250 by AbeBooks.com.

The authors spent a week in the US with Scholastic, and decided that their new spiritual home was definitely New York. They would like to thank everyone who took such wonderful care of them, and all the fantastic librarians and booksellers they met while they were there.

Thursday 20th December - Interview with Roderick Gordon on Simon Mayo's BBC Radio 5 Live Show about the new Tunnels talking book, which has been beautifully read by the actor, Jack Davenport, of Pirates of the Caribbean fame. A big thank you to Joel and Margaret for their reviews (and to Karen for her email). Please note that the book has been considerably abridged; Bartleby is completely omitted, Chester has turned Cockney, and quite inexplicably the Macaulay family have all developed Scottish accents!
Nobody tells us anything, but we've spotted that an UNABRIDGED version (pictured below) is being released in the States by Recorded Books, which will run to twelve CDs. Click HERE to see on Amazon.com. We're praying that the accents are as they should be in this one!

29th June 2007 - A massive thank you from the authors to the teachers and children, the booksellers, the librarians and everyone else they met on their mini-national tour to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool over the last week.
They would also like to thank all those they met on their marathon jaunt around the various London bookshops today (great day to pick - the streets were at a standstill!). It was wonderful to put faces to the names of all the people who have supported the book since the Mole days.

Following a period of editing, the first book will now be published by Chicken House in September 2007 in the UK. The title is also to be changed, although the final choice is yet to be decided upon.

PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT
Barry Cunningham of Chicken House, an imprint of Scholastic Inc., is delighted to announce that he has agreed terms, via Peter Straus of Rogers, Coleridge and White, to publish Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams’ first novel, The Highfield Mole and a subsequent volume in the series. The Highfield Mole is scheduled for release in Spring 2007.
Chicken House Entertainment, a subsidiary of the publisher, is also handling the film rights for the books.
The Highfield Mole was self-published by the authors in March 2005 and, following a review in the Book and Magazine Collector, the hardcover edition sold out within a day and has become highly sought after by collectors.

20th June 2005 - The authors are delighted to announce that Peter Straus of the literary agency Rogers, Coleridge & White has taken them on. Last year, Peter advised Charmian Hussey on her book, "The Valley of Secrets".
13th June 2005 - The authors are grateful to all those who turned up to their recent book signings, and would like to thank Sarah at the Norwich Ottakar's and Angela at Borders in Speke, Liverpool, for organising these events.
21 April 2005 - As a sign of their gratitude, the authors have prepared a special series of books at the request of a small group of dealers who have been very supportive and helped to promote the book. Referred to as the Remarque Series, these books are first edition hardbacks, signed by both authors and individually numbered out of 80 (these hardbacks are drawn from the 500 print run and not in addition to it). Each copy has a one-off drawing by Brian Williams and an inscription by Roderick Gordon.
15 April 2005 - The hardback edition of The Highfield Mole reaches 156th place in the Amazon.co.uk sales ranking.
13 April 2005 - A review by Stuart Webb appears in the May edition of Book and Magazine Collector, and the complete run of 500 hardbacks is sold within the space of a day.
21 March 2005 - First reader's review posted on Amazon.
16 March 2005 - Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams interviewed by Tony Snell for his show on BBC Radio Merseyside. Followed by articles in several Liverpool-based newspapers.
