The US Open Wheelchair Competition will not be taking place in 2008 due to the Paralympic competition taking place in Beijing, China. The top wheelchair players will be vying for gold, silver and bronze and be on site in Beijing preparing for the games to begin.

In 2009, the Wheelchair Competition will again be part of the US Open competition with $100,000 in prize money, the richest prize on the wheelchair tennis tour. The competitions, consisting of women's, men's and quad singles and doubles will allow fans to see the very best in wheelchair tennis.
