to sate the primal desires of even the most bloodthirsty gamers. EVGA bills
this super-advanced motherboard as “The Ultimate PC Gaming Platform”
– and for good reason. Based on the NVIDIA nForce 790 Ultra SLI chipset
and designed for Intel Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, Pentium EE, and Pentium
processors (including 45nm), this high-performance platform delivers incredible
overclocking, works flawlessly with extreme FSB (1600/1333/1066/800) and DDR3
speeds (1333/1066), and supports true 2 x16 PCI-Express and PCI Express 2.0.
Check out the specs – every gamer on this side of the galaxy will drool
over them. To name just a few of the juicier details --- this ATX board supports
dual-channel DDR3 memory up to 8GB and also supports up to 20000MHz SLi-ready
memory, SATA II with RAID 0, 1, 0+1, & JBOD, 7.1-channel Azalia audio, Gigabit
LAN, USB 2.0, and IEEE 1394. Additional features include NVIDIA MediaShield
storage technology, 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, Dual GigE with teaming, TCP/IP
acceleration, and NVIDIA FirstPacket technology.

better to take with you into battle than the EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI. If
you’re ready for the kill, click this extreme board into your shopping
cart today.
Socket
This motherboard features a Socket 775 design.
Chipset
The nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard is based on the NVIDIA nForce 790i
Ultra MCP Northbridge chipset . It supports Intel Core 2 Quad, Core 2
Duo, and Pentium Dual Core Processors, with Hyper-Threading Technology
and 800/1066/1333/1600MHz Front Side Bus support.
Memory
Expansion
The nForce 790i Ultra SLI provides 4 DIMM sockets using Dual Channel 240-pin
DDR3 with a total capacity of up to 8GB-64bit. You can install DDR3 1066/1333/2000MHz
SLI Memory, with EPP.
PCI
Express 2.0 Support
PCI Express Base 2.0 specification doubles the interconnect bit rate from
2.5 GT/s to 5 GT/s in a seamless and compatible manner. The performance
boost to 5 GT/s is by far the most important feature of the PCI Express
2.0 specifications. It effectively increases the aggregate bandwidth of
a 16-lane link to approximately 16 GB/s. The higher bandwidth will allow
product designers to implement narrower interconnect links to achieve high
performance.
IDE
The nForce 790i Ultra SLI includes built in IDE facilities that support
Ultra ATA 133.
Audio
The nForce 790i Ultra SLI comes with a High Definition (HDA) audio codec
which supports high quality 8-channel audio.
Serial
ATA Support
The nForce 790i Ultra SLI supports the Serial ATA technology through the
Serial ATA interfaces. Doubles bus bandwidth which provides blazingly high
disk performance, up to 3.0Gb/s. (6) Six SATA connectors with RAID 0, 1,
0+1, 5 and JBOD solutions. (1) One SATA and (1) one eSATA with 3.0Gb/s support.

I hesitated on purchasing this board because of the reviews and concerns about memory! At first I would get 2/3rd through the OS installation and get the BSoD. I then went into the BIOS and Disabled EPP 2.0 Memory until after the OS installation. Changed to Auto and again the BSoD! OK what do I do now? I disabled it until I can figure out what the problem is? I run both Vista and XP w/Removable drives. (Business and Games).
My System...EVGA nForce 790iUltra, Intel Q9550, Crucial 2@2048mb DDR3 2000 Mhz. NForce GTX280
I was a little nervous about the memory and still may return for a better exchange. Overall great board!

Nothing wronge with this board
running 2x2gig ballistic tracer(not even rec. for this board)
running great, not one lockup I've got XP32bit and Vista Ulti64bit
make sure you have a very good PSU for the system you build

I used this mobo to build my first gaming rig this last summer. I used intel Quad Core 2.4ghz,Ultra x-pro 750w Psu, Corsair DDR3 1333Mhz 2 x 1024,9600GT 1GB Graphics card. I has been running great for 5 months on every game from Stalker,Oblivion,Half life 2,Vegas 6,Medieval II,LOTOR.No troubles.

Im a 3 yr tech support mgr & tried everything one can try to get these to run at advertised specs. The mobo wont POST when running the dimms at advertised specs & all 4 dimm sockets are populated. I have 2 identical PCs. Same w/ both despite dimm swapping. I called EVGA & immediately they directed me to Corsairs FAQ page stating the following:Question: I have 2 Corsair dimms that work fine together. When I add 2 more dimms of the matching part #, they wont work. ANSWER:We test these dimms as theyre sold. In other words, a 2GB kit is tested only as a pair, not w/ 2 other dimms. Were not certain how 2 kits when put together will perform. While it is possible to get 2 kits working together, it will most likely require adjustments to be made in your BIOS to get the modules up & running. If possible, we suggest lowering your dimm frequency & slightly increasing northbridge voltage] I wish that worked. I tweaked the dimm & NB voltages but no.

Suggestion dont gamble with this board. If your looking for a stable/reliable board; NOT the one to buy. 3 weeks still cant get Vista 32 or 64 installed without corruption issues. You may have a 50/50 chance of getting one that works correctly. Lock-ups and crashes is all Ive dealt with, even if I got it working correctly Id be to scared overclocking with this thing.
