Strike paralyses Balochistan

QUETTA - At least 25 people suffered injuries when a bomb exploded at a public meeting in Dera Allah Yar on Tuesday while 20-inche diameter gas pipeline and three power pylons were also blown up in Dera Bugti.

According to reports reaching here, the activists of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP-Aali) gathered in Dera Allah Yar to hold a public meeting in connection with Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti’s second death anniversary when explosive material attached with  a motorbike parked close to public meeting by unknown persons exploded with a huge bang. As a result, 25 people received serious wounds. The injured were immediately rushed to Dera Allah Yar hospital for treatment. Condition of seven injured persons was stated to be critical. They were shifted to Jacobabad hospital.

Soon after the explosion, law enforcement agencies personnel reached the site and cordoned off the area.

According to police, the explosive device was locally made and it was used through remote control. Police have registered a case against unknown persons and started investigation.

Meanwhile, Dera Allah Yar police have claimed to have foiled a bid of terrorism in the area by defusing a 58-kg bomb planted by unknown felons near JWP office.
