EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP

B.R. McConnon

Chief Executive Officer

B.R. McConnon is the founder and CEO of Democracy Data & Communications, L.L.C. (DDC), the country’s largest firm specializing in grassroots and PAC technology and communications, and the first firm to offer such services under an ASP/SaaS model. Together with its subsidiary, OnPoint Advocacy, DDC employs 120 full-time staff and hundreds of contract employees and field staff.  The company maintains headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, and technical operations in Hyderabad, India.  DDC’s clients include a majority of the Fortune 50 and Fortune Power 20 government affairs programs.  The company ranked 72nd on the Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies list for 2002, and  received the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 award three times for North America and top 10 in Virginia.

In addition to leading DDC, B.R. has been a key contact and spokesperson for the National Federation of Independent Business, providing congressional testimony and appearing on CNN and NBC.  He serves on the Board of Directors for the Public Affairs Council, has been a guest lecturer for George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management, and is the founder of the Grassroots Roundtable.

B.R. graduated from Georgetown University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Government and International Relations.  He first worked as a policy analyst for Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE), where he authored editorials and position papers on tax and trade issues.  He left CSE to become the finance director for two ballot initiatives in Illinois and California where, as the campaigns’ finance director, he became intimately familiar with the technological aspects of raising money, campaigning, compliance reporting, and lobbying.  Upon returning to Washington, D.C., B.R. spent five years working with political software and database firms before launching DDC in 1996.

B.R. is active in several outside business ventures and charities, including serving on the board of the J Street Cup, a charity he founded to raise funds for The Fisher House at Walter Reed Army Hospital, the American Heart Association, and the Bishop Ireton High School Alumni Association.  He is also an avid sailor and golfer and lives with his wife, Laura, their daughter, Ryan, and son, James, in Old Town, Alexandria.
