COMBAT OPERATIONS

Combat Operations

If you choose a Warfare Branch career, your workplace will be unlike anywhere else you can imagine. You could find yourself on a large aircraft carrier with up to 1,000 others, a patrol vessel with a crew of 30, in a fleet submarine with 130 personnel or even with the Royal Navy's 'air force' - the Fleet Air Arm. Whichever direction you take, you will find variety unrivalled by any other career in civilian or military life.

Mine Clearance Diver

  • A highly trained specialist, who uses state-of-the-art diving equipment to disable or destroy mines and other explosive devices by hand.

Mine Warfare Specialist

  • A meticulous and practical specialist who prepares and carries out the operations required to locate and dispose of mines on the seabed or just below the sea's surface.

Warfare Officer

  • A leader with highly developed navigational skills who is responsible for making key tactical decisions under pressure and taking charge of complicated manoeuvres.

Warfare Officer (Submariner)

  • A leader with highly developed navigational skills who is responsible for making key tactical decisions under pressure and taking charge of complicated manoeuvres.

Warfare Specialist Tactical (Submariner)

  • A practical, highly trained seaman who compiles the information and operates the weapons and defensive systems that give submarines their stealth and firepower.

Warfare Specialist Sensor (Submariner)

  • A practical, highly trained seaman who compiles the information and operates the various sensor systems on the submarine

Warfare Specialist

  • A practical and self-disciplined specialist who gathers and interprets information about a ship's surroundings, operating the weapons and defensive systems.
