1923: Johnny Dixon was born. He was a vital figure in the history of the football club - captaining the side to the 1957 FA Cup final victory over Manchester United. He also led the team to the Second Division title in 1959-60. He played his last game in 1961 and then spent six years coaching the youth side.

1966: Villa went down 6-1 to Stoke City at the Victoria Ground. Former Villan Harry Burrows scored a hat-trick playing on the wing.
