Introduction

Welcome

In the immense world of the Internet, the EU is featured 232 million times. This is the number of search options you obtain if you enter the EU acronym into Google. If you enter the word “Croatia”, you will be offered 95 million titles. The word “Hrvatska” will give you another nine million. How do you fight for your place under the sun in such an electronic infinity?

This is precisely the purpose of this website – to provide a high degree of transparency. It will give all who are interested the chance to gain an insight into the negotiations on Croatia’s accession to the European Union, keeping in mind the efficiency of the negotiating process and compliance with good negotiating practice. The aim is to give added value to the already vast offer on the Internet of the relationship between Croatia and the EU.

The skills of the Negotiating Team and the success of reforms, as well as the speedy supply of information to the public on all the key segments of the negotiations, are all significant for the success of the negotiations. Our website explains the entire process and the content of the negotiations in order to bring these aspects closer to Croatian citizens in a simple, neat and clear way.

Sometimes such things are easier said than done. Conducting accession negotiations is a highly complex process which has its precise legal and procedural rules, and involves a large number of stakeholders. For this reason, these pages may not immediately provide the answers to all your questions, but we are confident that you will find the responses you need if you become a regular visitor to www.eu-pregovori.hr.

Croatia’s accession to the European Union is an historical process which will impregnate all segments of society. Ultimately, it is the citizens of Croatia who will be the ones to decide, in a referendum, on Croatia’s joining the European Union. They will have the last word. To make such an important and far-reaching decision, it is necessary to have access to as much information as possible. We hope that you will find most of it on this website.
