The Farnsworth House is located approximately 58 miles southwest of Chicago in Plano, Illinois along the Fox River.  Due to increased congestion and construction, allow 2 hours drive time from Chicago to accommodate detours and construction traffic.

TIPS FOR AN ENJOYABLE VISIT

 

•  Please allow approximately 60 minutes
    for your guided tour of the Farnsworth
    House.

•  Comfortable walking shoes and weather
    appropriate attire is highly
    recommended.

•  The tour begins at the Visitor Center
    which is about a quarter of a mile from
    the Farnsworth House.

 •  Guests will be asked to remove their
     shoes to enter the house in order to

Photography

 

•  Exterior photography is allowed of the
    Farnsworth House for personal use only.

•  Interior photography is not allowed.

•  Commercial photography must be
    scheduled in advance.

 

 

 

Parking

 

Free parking is available at the
Farnsworth House
Visitor Center.

 

 

Handicap Access

 

Currently, the house is not handicap accessible. The tour begins at the Visitors Center which is about a quarter of a mile walk to the Farnsworth House.

No food, beverages, backpacks, or large bags are allowed in the house. The Visitor Center does not offer any food service facilities.

 

However, a variety of dining options are available in nearby Plano or picnic facilities are available across the river at Silver Springs State Park.
