The Museum is located in the "Ancient Saraya": the old governmental Ottoman house. A unique complex, historically and architecturally.
It was built at the 18th century and most probably used for lodging. It is an Ottoman complex on top of Crusaders fortress remains, with beautiful curves ceilings. In- 1811 Abu-Nabout turned it into the governmental house. Along side the governmental quarter, there was a big gate, a well, prison, post office, bath-house, mosque, non roofed court, surrounded with column patio, open and closed halls for animals, goods & for lodgers, with heating facilities for the gests and the inhabitants.
At the late 19th century the cities growth and the governmental transfer into the "New Saraya" house, the house was sold to the Demyani's descendants:
A member of the famous, wealthy Arabic Greek-Orthodox family. Along side the family quarter, and the lodgings, he founded the well known soap factory. During the war in 1948, it was abandoned, and letter a governmental owned, defined as an historical preservation site.
The Museum was founded at the 60's by the late Dr.Kapaln one of the pioneers Archeologist of the new Jewish state that excavated in Jaffa.
The museum contains archeological findings commencing from the Neolithic age, a testimony of people, nations, and historical occurrence sequences. In the findings: Doorpost stones of the "Egyptian Jaffa" gate, with Raamses II name carved on it (BC (1301– 1234, the Assyria King Sanherive prism transcription (BC 18th century), Ashmonazar burial transcription (BC 5th century), icons, working tools, hoarding vessels, house wares, ornaments, oil lamps, act. Some are testimony of local manufacturing, others of imports, comers or conquest relations with Mediterranean and European cities.

"Old Jaffa Antiquities Museum"
For many years the Museum was close sealing the archeological findings, from the Old Jaffa excavations. Till it's (structure and conceptual) renovation, the museum is open for groups, or can be rented for receptions, special occasions, exhibitions act.
