CE Classes At Our Meetings
Carla
Gilbert,
PHCCNC's
CE Manager, has
completed the schedule for CE classes to be conducted
at three of our meetings this fall. The three two hour
classes will be held on the following dates.
Tuesday,
August 8th
Tuesday, September 12th
Tuesday, October 10th
Preregistration will be
required so that proper documentation can be prepared for
each
two hour session. All three CE classes must be attended.
We'll be meeting a half hour
earlier at six, dinner will begin immediately, and the
class will be started promptly at seven.
If you would rather
attend a single day event which includes all six hours of
CE, PHCCNC
is currently planning a session in Charlotte on the 3rd
or 4th Saturday in September.
More good news from the
PHCCNC
CE program.
Lower prices! PHCCNC
members currently
receive 12 hours of CE at no cost. To answer the need of
some members who have three or
more licensees, PHCCNC
now offers six hours of CE at the amazing low cost of
only $50.00
per person. On top of that PHCCNC
extends this offer to nonmembers alike! Now,
nonmembers
can take advantage of the most comprehensive and
convenient CE available for only $50.00
per person, per six hour session.
New
Year, New Opportunities, New Challenges
The new year has
come in and brought with it new opportunities and
challenges.
Some of the
opportunities we'll enjoy this year stem from our new
affiliation with the
PHCCNC.
They include better access to PHCC-NA,
an improved members only section of
the state web site, and CE Classes made more convenient
for our membership.
Of course the challenges
are there too. President Gilbert List resigned his office
effective
December 31, 2005, Secretary Chad McCarter relocated to
Baltimore, and our membership
and meeting attendance continues to decline.
In order to take full
advantage of the opportunities and meet the challenges of
the coming year
we need strong leadership. Don't miss this opportunity to
serve our industry! Step up to the
challenge and volunteer to fill one of these
positions!
Join
Group! We're Switching Group E-mail Host
In the continuing
effort to better serve our cause we're switching our
group e-mail host.
We have terminated our yahoo groups account. Our new
group e-mail host will be the .mac
site
at www.apple.com.
We sent out invitations but thus far only one member has
responded. When
you receive the invitation just click on the big orange
"Join group" button in the body of the
e-mail. The new service will be easier to manage and has
a much cleaner look because there's
no third party advertising.

New
Inspections Pass Rate Incentives Program In Mecklenburg
County
In response to a
continued high rate of inspection failures, among certain
contractors, the
Code Compliance Task Force (CCTF) reconvened to study the
problem.
The results of the
CCTF's work is a three part plan to provide incentives to
contractors with
an inspection failure rate of 40% and higher. If a
contractor's failure rate exceeds the 40%
level it will mean greater inspection response time, a
pre-inspection performed by a qualified
party and/or continuing education to meet department
requirements. These measures will add
significant time and cost to a project.
The plan was presented
to the Building Development Commission (BDC) and approved
for adoption.
You can download a copy
of the CCTF's report here.
Just look for the link in the right column.
