Amazon.com Charts And The All-Time Bestselling Pre-Order

at Amazon.com's Music Store

Reflecting extraordinary interest

from music fans worldwide, 'N Sync's new CD, No Strings Attached, has smashed the record for the all-time best-selling pre-order CD at Amazon.com (Nasdaq:AMZN), the leading online music store.

The album hit the No. 1 spot on the music charts at Amazon.com on March 18 -- two days before the album was released -- and has held the top spot continuously since then.

"Customer interest in 'N Sync's new album has been incredible," said Jennifer Cast, General Manager of Amazon.com's music store. "We did great with their last record, so we expected No Strings Attached to do well. It shot up our charts, and by the time the album was released, it had become our all time best-selling pre-order title. And customers haven't just voted with their wallets -- they've also expressed their passion for the band by posting more than 575 online reviews about No Strings Attached, with an average rating of 4 stars."

Amazon.com enables customers to place advance orders for albums well before they are released, for delivery on release date. Amazon.com began taking advance orders for 'N Sync's highly anticipated album the week of January 31, seven weeks before its release date. That same week, No Strings Attached was Amazon.com's 49th best-selling album. Momentum continued to build, and by the week of February 14 -- still more than a month before the album's release date -- it had hit the Top 20 on Amazon.com's music charts. Then on March 6, the album reached the Top 10. This phenomenal pre-release popularity has made No Strings Attached Amazon.com's all-time best-selling pre-order CD. The album is currently ranked No. 1 on Amazon.com's sales chart.

Instead of taking weeks to calculate bestsellers as is the case in the physical world, Amazon.com can track the best-selling CDs as sales occur. Each hour, Amazon.com updates the bestsellers list using sales during the previous 24 hours.
