ROLE

I have the privilege of making the ultimate day-to-day decisions on deviantART in my acting position as Chief Executive Officer. I Co-Founded deviantART in April of 2000 with °jark along with a founding team of individuals including °matteo most of whom joined around launch in August. Honorary founding team members include: $mccann, $chris and °spot.

PERSON

I've had a passion for building online communities since my addiction to game BBS's (doom, doom 2, heretic, hexen, etc.) when I was 12. I co-sysop'd the Netherworld BBS in Northern Virginia at that time (till I was 15) and fell in love with the possibilities; especially as they applied to a global community. deviantART mirrors many aspects of BBS's and as time progresses you will find even closer comparisons to the quality of community MajorBBS and other platforms were able to support. Of course, most of you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say BBS's. Ugh.

I've now spent more than half my life building online communities. Seeking to deliver a mainstream application that captures the depth and passion that I felt for BBS's in my youth youth, rather than my now youth. :D

I'm very proud of the success of deviantART. Especially the fact that we took the road less traveled and arrived a little later, but on our own pure and untainted terms. We're doing it our way.

And that ladies and gentlemen ... feels like a milli-millillion dollars.

FUTURE

Before you read about the future, read about the past. And I think with a past like that and a team like this, it is a bright future indeed.

It is our intention to create the most powerful outlet in the world for known and unknown artists alike.

Most importantly we intend to take our time to do it right. For the first time in history there is connection and communication between artists and fans on a massive scale. deviantART represents a breakthrough for the promotion and exposure of otherwise stranded artists in all corners of the globe. Our job is to make sense of the possibility, and craft it in a responsible manner.

And that's what I'm here to do along with the strong team we've assembled here at deviantART; until the job is done.

I've been working behind the scenes with deviantART for some time. In more recent times I've taken on the role of CTO of deviantART. This means I oversee all technical development and maintenance of the website and servers involved. I work with a great team and I'm always excited about what we can build to make this community an even better place.

I don't really know how many years I've been programming, but I do know that C++ has been my language of choice for nearly 16 years now. My main programming interests are computer graphics, UI engines, synthetic languages, systems programming, networking. My other interests include business, law, markets, natural languages/linguistics, industrial/graphic design, movies (couple friends/family in the business), culture, food/cooking, stories, material science, nature, hiking.

In the future, I plan to work on technical methods to improve navigation on deviantART, trust metrics, improving databases/caches, improved search functionality, plus a whole lot more.

Danielle McKay

My name is Danielle McKay and I am the Director of Community Relations. deviantART's Community Relations Team provides a unique collective effort that seeks to create and sustain collaborative relationships among deviants and to develop innovative opportunities within the global art industry. These relationships are meant to provide and encourage opportunities to foster creative genius.  The CR Team acts as a window of information for the community on how to utilize deviantART in a way that will empower and enable themselves as respected and successful artists.

Our ultimate vision is a community of artists that come together unified and strengthened by sharing the belief that they hold the artistic power to create and shape their own success.  In order to realize our vision,  our mission must be to exceed the expectations of our community, whom we view as partners, and we will accomplish this by committing to our shared core values.

I joined deviantART just after it opened in 2000 and I immediately enjoyed the unique community atmosphere and vision which I found here. I've always attempted to put my full support behind the site, it's staff, and it's artistic vision for the future.
Because of my constant presence and supportive attitude I was invited to join the staff as a member of the Policy Violation Team in 2002, an invitation I was more than happy to accept.

Today I find myself in the Community Development Division serving as Director of Copyright and Policy Enforcement. In this capacity I am responsible for overseeing the training and operation of the Policy Enforcement Team, maintaining the Policy section of the FAQ and directly handling just about anything else involving official deviantART policy, it's interpretation and it's even application in all situations.

Anna
Advertising Operations

Anna coordinates day-to-day Advertising Operations for deviantART. She took over adCAST and Advertising Operations from *spot when she joined the team in February 2007. This means that all the ads you see on the site are her responsibility and she works hard to try to keep the ads as unobtrusive as possible while still being able to maintain a site as large as deviantART. If you have any general concerns, inquiries, or comments, please email ads@deviantart.com or drop $anna a note.

I'm the one to blame when you see the system maintenance message that always seems to last longer than the 5 minutes it implies.

My responsibilities here as a member of the IT department at DeviantART are mostly behind the scenes, working in conjunction with $pachunka, `fluffy, and $chris under the direction and aegis of °spot and $mccann.

I'm the developer of the Gallery Stats system that shows a user's deviantART gallery statistics, and I've done the Flash programming and design of the Basic Prints and the deviantMOBILE crop tool.

I also work with the Beta Tester program to launch new features on the site, such as EasyReply, Journal Preview, and other fancy features.

When I'm not brushing my hair, I decrease the average number of errors per line of javascript on the internet by twiddling lots of DA. I am currently looking for a wife and a glass of milk.

Keir

I'm the resident Flash-monkey. All the animations that pop-up from time to time will have been done by me. Aside from that I'm always happy to help if you have any questions. Although most of my help will consist of me trawling through the staff-list and putting you onto the correct person.

I'm Keir, 27 from London, England. Other than dA I enjoy going down the pub with my mates, football (soccer), music, travel, reading, philosophy, politics, theatre, bungee-jumping, marathon running, space travel, Buddhism, Microfluidic BioMEMS diagnostics, piloting commercial passenger aircraft, neuro-science and watching stuff on TV.

My job around here is quite basic: I am a design and creative consultant.

I'm a graphic designer and artist. I'm currently a senior at Otis College of Art & Design, the longest-standing design school in California. At Otis I am majoring in graphic design and am a member of the Otis Design Group, an invitation-only collection of designers and illustrators from within the school. Only 6-10 members are allowed in the group. I was brought in as one of 2 juniors working with seniors. Once those seniors have left, my role will be to lead the incoming members of the new team until they get their bearings.
In terms of music, I particularly love Goldfrapp and The Prodigy. They're just brilliant.

Hello. I work as part of deviantART's creative team under the direction of $liquisoft and with the assistance of ~levinet. I generally work behind-the-scenes on XHTML and CSS code for deviantART. I enjoy solving usability issues and organizing information for clarity.

Previously, I designed deviantART's Minimal skin for deviantART v3. It was ported as a theme by the amazing HTML/CSS/JS Guru, $pachunka. I also like to dabble in pixel art. You'll find a few of my little toolbar icons across deviantART.

Heidi

I've been involved with deviantART from the very beginning and have been lucky enough to hold a variety of positions over the years. I've done a little bit of anything and everything; from being Angelo's assistant to helping out IT. Currently, I co-manage the Creative team to ensure projects continue to be completed in a positive fashion.

When I'm not working for deviantART, I can usually be found participating in something active. My hobbies include playing and watching almost all sports (basketball, softball, volleyball, football, etc.), traveling, geocaching, investing, and trying to be as funny as humanly possible. However, when I feel like relaxing, I'll turn on the television, watch a movie, or read a book. I enjoy all aspects of news, politics, and the stock market and can usually be found watching Fox News, CNN, or CNBC during the wee hours of the morning.

You can find me at deviantART HQ. I work around the office on various projects under the direction of $spyed. The biggest project by far was coordinating for the 2005 deviantART Summit.

Outside of work I’m usually out watching or playing music somewhere in Los Angeles. I head to the beach at every opportunity. I spend lots of my time playing guitar, Jeepin’, writing songs, hiking, surfing, traveling, writing and reading.
