Footballer's kidnapped mother found in Sao Paulo

The mother of Brazilian footballer Luis Fabiano has been freed after spending two months in the hands of kidnappers in Sao Paulo.

She is the fifth 'soccer mother' to be abducted for ransom in as many months.

Sandra Helena Clemente, 45, was found tied up on a semi-rural property on the outskirts of Sao Paulo late yesterday.

Police were tipped off by a passer-by who heard screams.

A 35-man squad stormed the property and found her lying on a mattress. The kidnappers ran off.

She had been in captivity since being taken from her home on March 11 this year.

The family says it did not pay a ransom.

Her son, Luis Fabiano, a rising star in Brazilian soccer, is flying back from his European side Porto for a reunion with his mother.
