SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE PAPERS
The 1984 presidential campaign records relate partly to the controversial financial activities of John Zaccaro and his wife, vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro. Much of the material consists of income tax returns. There are a few miscellaneous records relating to the 1984 presidential campaign. A small group of papers document the transition period following the 1976 presidential election, mainly lists and descriptions of possible cabinet members and candidates for positions in various government agencies. There are also critiques of the Carter administration.
Detailed schedules of trips by Mondale and his wife Joan (1977-1984) are extensive, as are expense reports generated by the vice president's office (1976-1981). A master contributor list (1988) kept by the Mondale for President organization in anticipation of a possible 1988 Mondale candidacy is also included.
