Front impact
There were some structures in the dashboard that presented a potential hazard to the knees and femurs of both front seat passengers
Side impact
Euro NCAP allowed Nissan to re-test the car after the curtain airbags did not deploy as intended in the frontal and side tests. Nissan have eliminated the assembly error that led to the problem and have checked and corrected all production vehicles. Following the modifications, the Pathfinder scored maximum points in the side impact and pole tests.
Child occupant
The presence of ISOFIX anchorages in the rear outboard seats was not sufficiently prominently marked. The front passenger airbag can be disabled free of charge by a Nissan dealer. Without this disconnection, a rearward-facing childseat should not be used in that seating position. In the frontal test, the chests of both the 1½ and the 3 year old dummies were subjected to high decelerations.
Pedestrian
The Pathfinder did not score any points for the protection offered by the leading edge of the bonnet.
