Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Chosen For Induction Into National Women’s Hall Of Fame (Click here for more information)

January 29, 2007:

Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross passed away on August 24, 2004. Since her death, 100's and 100's of personal stories, notes of thanks and condolences have been received. On behalf of Elisabeth's children, Kenneth and Barbara, I would like to thank you for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support.  They would also like you to know that they feel it is vitally important that their mother's legacy continues.

In a mission to continue Elisabeth's legacy, the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation (EKR Foundation) was formed. The mission of the EKR Foundation is simple: continue and grow Elisabeth's life work.

Many exciting projects have evolved to meet the foundation’s goals. The EKR Foundation has teamed up with the MISS Foundation, an international nonprofit organization that helps grieving children and adults after a child’s death, with a goal of opening "The Elisabeth House”   “The Elisabeth House” or Community Compassion Center aims to provide direct services, community education, research and advocacy around bereavement and grief.

Also, the EKR Foundation and the MISS Foundation, launched an educational campaign, "Changing the Way our Culture Mourns" by selling “In Mourning Bands™" and "One Who Soars Bands™" as a contemporary symbol for mourning.

The EKR Foundation and the MISS Foundation co-hosted their first conference, “When a Child Dies, The Vow to Remember, The Call for Comfort” in May of 2006.  Our second collaborative conference will be held April 20-22, 2007 in Prescott, Arizona.

Elisabeth's last book, co-written with David Kessler, "On Grief and Grieving" was released in July 2005.   Also, Kenneth, loyal EKR friends, Fern Stewart Welch and Rose Winters, have compiled a book of commentaries on the incredible life of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. The book, Tea With Elisabeth, is a collective portrait of Elisabeth by 50 participants who are leaders in hospice and palliative care, bestselling authors, well-known colleagues and associates as well as family and friends.  The memories and anecdotes are powerful, poignant and inspirational.

And since her death, Elisabeth's memory has been honored in many dedications and memorial services around the world.  In May of 2005, Desert Regional Medical Center, in Palm Springs, California, named their annual hospice volunteer award the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Hospice Volunteer Award.  On June 30, 2005, Hospice of Arizona is dedicated their new Pueblo Norte Inpatient Unit in honor of Elisabeth with the name The Butterfly Center.  On July 8, 2005, The Dougy Center in Portland, Oregon unveiled their EKR Memorial.  Elisabeth’s most recent honor is her induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, New York in September 2007.

The online store at EKR Foundation Store is now open.  The EKR Funeral Celebration DVD is now available along with the "The Real Taste of Life Journal."  In the coming months you will be able to purchase many items from Elisabeth's archives.  Currently, audio and videotapes of her popular seminars and workshops are being converted to cd and dvd and will be added to the online store.

We invite you to EKR Foundation.Org dedicated to Elisabeth’s legacy complete with online store and upcoming events.

We also invite your contributions as we work to build the EKR Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit organization).  You may send your tax - deductible donation made payable to: EKR Foundation, PO BOX 6168, Scottsdale, AZ 85261.

If you would like to receive EKR Foundation updates please join our guestbook.

Thank you all, again, for your support.

Kind Regards,

Ken Ross
