"When I get home, I'm going to sit down with my family and talk about it. Then I'll decide whether I'm going to sign (Wednesday) or not," Randle told the Bastrop Daily Enterprise before baseball practice today.I guess Randle cooled off after baseball practice, because he wound up signing with LSU anyway.
This tale had a bit of a weird conclusion, but that doesn't take away from the importance of this haul for LSU. ESPN has Randle rated as the No. 10 recruit in the country; Rivals has him at No. 2 overall, and No. 1 for wide receivers.
Randle is 6'3" and 195 pounds and he is just a freak of an athlete. In his junior season at Louisiana's Bastrop High, Randle made 55 catches for 1,058 yards and 11 touchdowns. This past year, he converted to the quarterback position ... and threw for 2,400-plus yards and 20 TDs, while rushing for nearly 700 yards.
Rivals expects him to play from day one at the collegiate level, stating "The instant he steps on campus he will be a quarterback's best friend."
FanHouse takes you into the belly of the college football beast that is recruiting. We'll be around before, during and after Signing Day '09.
