Boeing Unveils 787 Final Assembly Factory Flow
EVERETT, Wash., Dec. 6, 2006 -- Using digital engineering simulations, Boeing unveiled the 787 final assembly factory flow during its first virtual rollout. Customers, partners and employees gathered to witness the event, which recognizes the completion of detailed analysis of the build process of the entire airplane. Pre-integration of wing parts takes place in the factorys 40-36 building, which will soon be outfitted with a new door to accommodate the large-size 787 structure. In the 40-26 building, the airplane will be assembled. The factory features modern equipment, which is almost entirely portable, allowing the factory to more easily accommodate various 787 models. # # # Contact: Lori Gunter, Boeing Commercial Airplanes Communications, 425-717-0571
