Good News, Bad News

There’s been some “restructuring” going on at Mr. B’s place of employment.
The good news: he still has a job.
The bad news: he’s not getting a raise.  Again.
The good news: the corporate office is several states away so he’s out of the main fray.
The bad news: he’s going to have to travel more.
The good news: we’ll [...]

Scattegories, Teenage Version

We had a little family togetherness time this weekend, and played a game of Scattegories.
The letter was B. The category was “Things you replace.”
Me: “Batteries.”
Mr. B: “Bald tires”
HS: “Burned out lightbulbs.”
BD:  “Boyfriends.”

Nablopomo

OK, I’ve decided to give nablopomo a shot this year.  For the uninitiated among you, that stands for National Blog Posting Month.  I’ve even put a little badge down at the bottom of my sidebar (mostly because I don’t know how to move it to the top!).  It means that I am aiming to post [...]

Nightmare in the Bluegrass

I had a scary dream last night.
In this dream, Mr. B and I were the proud parents of a darling baby boy.
The odd thing was that I wasn’t quite sure where this baby had come from.
Fortunately, I found his story written up in our local paper.  Apparently, we had adopted one of a pair of [...]

Better Late Than Never

My oldest sister and her fiance eloped back in October. Of 1983.
So this weekend, we’re going to their wedding reception.

I’d Rather Be Blogging

Mr. B and I are finally painting our master bedroom. For once, I am NOT appreciating what a nice, large room it is.

Road Trip

We are here in Music City for a couple of days. Naturally, we came for the music. HS’s girlfriend is giving a recital, so we decided to make the trip. Should be interesting, as we will be meeting her family for the first time. Perhaps it’s a good thing that I’ve [...]

Star Power

No one asked why I chose to come to upstate New York in the wintertime. So I’ll tell you.
Several months ago my sister told me that her son (aka my nephew AND godson) was trying out for the spring musical at his high school. While he’s done some acting, including playing the lead [...]

2001 - The Year That Wasn’t

When HS was a baby, a friend gave me a photo album covered with Christmas fabric. For some long-forgotten reason, she had decided to call him “Ace,” and had that embroidered on the album. I decided to keep it as a photo record of his Christmases. The album itself was one of [...]

Super Bowl Crisis

I left town Friday afternoon to visit a friend, getting back earlier this afternoon. I gave Mr. B one assignment before I left.
Buy some beer for the game.
He forgot.
Good thing I’d already bought the chips and salsa, or we’d probably face deportation for un-American activities.
UPDATE:  Who needs beer?  GIANTS WIN!!!!!!!
