  • Did you know that Marvin's Room, shown on television and available on DVD, was written by Scott McPherson a 1977 Upper Arlington Graduate? The film stars Meryl Streep, Leonardo Dicaprio, Diane Keaton and Robert DiNero
    Scott McPherson, the author of this award winning play, (who also wrote the screenplay) died of complications resulting from AIDS on Nov. 7, 1992. While Marvin's Room is not specifically about AIDS, it presents a picture of a caregiving community which is very appropriate for AIDS victims, their families, and loved ones.

Historical NoteGreen Grass of Wyoming (1947)
Lancaster was the first community in Ohio to be used as the site of a major motion picture -- using the principle cast. 20th Century Fox's "Green Grass of Wyoming" shooting in the summer of 1947, with the World Premiere held here in 1948. Visiting were Lloyd Nolan, Charles Coburn, Robert Arthur, Burl Ives and Peggy Cummins.
