Kashmir Klub and BMI Link for February 22 Webcast

FEBRUARY 17, 2000 -- The Kashmir Klub, in conjuction with BMI, continues its ongoing talent showcase webcasts with the second installment set for Tuesday, February 22. Webcasting a monthly showcase of BMI writers and artists live from the heart of London to the rest of the world, the Kashmir and BMI will present Peter Byrne, Chip & Dave, Kate Havnevik, Clare Tompkinson and The Cheeksters, an act from Nashville in performance.

The Kashmir Klub, recently described by The Sunday Times as "the coolest club in town," is, arguably, London's most innovative live music venue. The brainchild of former Cutting Crew keyboardist and veteran singer/songwriter Tony Moore, the club has set as its goal to provide the best possible platform for live music in London. Run on a strictly non-profit-making basis, performers at the Kashmir play for pleasure and are not paid; similarly admission to the club is free, and much equipment, like the sound system and internet connections, has been donated.

Quickly establishing itself as essential showcase platform for new acts, the Kashmir boasts that two artists who made their debut appearances at the club have already signed major record and publishing deals this yer. In addition to the newcomers, name artists/writers also turn up, often unannounced, to perform, including Kiki Dee, Ron Sexsmith, Nik Kershaw, Jerry Jeff Walker, David Poe, Dennis Morgan and Suzi Ragsdale.Originally open on Tuesday nights, the Kashmir Klub proved an immediate hit; the club is now a regular fixture Tuesday through Friday nights, as well as occasional Monday and Saturday evening for special events.

The first Kashmir/BMI live webcast took place on Tuesday, January 25, with the full line-up of writer/performers Marie Claire D'Ubaldo (whose writing credits include Celine Dion's "Falling Into You" and Robert Mile's "One And One"), ex-Black front Man Colin Vercombe, plus new talent Thompson, Matthew J and the band Brew. At every showcase performance, the night is fully hosted and each actl performs two mini sets. The webcasts are broadcast on www.kashmirklub.com.
