So I got back into Toronto this weekend and spent most of that time just trying to play catch up.  Last night got around to finally posting the Far Cry 2 Hands-On Preview over at Evil Avatar.  Definitely a fun trip in itself, and the Ubisoft team knows how to have some fun (even this close to release while in crunch mode).

See the article for my impressions on the game and what I can publicially speak on for now.

Also, before I forget, I did some coverage of some of the games found at X08 this year.  Give [X08] Part 1 - Ninjas, Knights, Superheroes and Tough Guys a look over.

It's been far too long since I've updated my 1UP blog. But life is busy as always and I end up spending most of my discussion time on the EvAv forums like usual. It also doesn't help (well, it does in many better ways) that I haven't been working shift work for a year or so.

Like many gamers I've spent the winter season enveloped into Call of Duty 4 and Rock Band. Finally made my way up to expert guitar, which I consider it's own kind of achievement. ;) The list of games run through is a long one, so I'll save it and just say that if it was a "major" game, I played it at some point. Standouts aside from the two already mentioned of course being Lost Odyssey, Peggle, The Orange Box, and Bioshock.

I also got to attend the media portion of X07 here in Toronto back in August. So if you're interested in seeing my bad handicam work and write ups, volia:

[X07] Part 1 - Naruto: Rise of a Ninja
[X07] Part 2 - Bioware Interview, Turok
[X07] Part 3 - The Big Ones

I'm all set to attend PAX this year. Time booked off work, ticket ordered. Now I just need to get around to the business of my flight/hotel accommodations, which I'm sure will not be the best since I've waited so long.

Anyhoo, back to the grind, and editing footage of our Toronto EvAv meetup.

Oh yes, one more thing, props to Phil for finally getting himself moved across the country and into his desk as the 1UP News editor. Trust me folks, he's put in his dues to get there.

Update Ho!

<hr>
Well, it's been a few months. I managed to get myself running back on Windows again and ended up using my warranty for my 360 at EB so I could get a new harddrive. Lo and behold, the "disc read errors" were caused by my harddrive cache being damaged (which I can't blame MS for, as I was the one who dropped it on the floor....). So it's nice to have things back to normal. Lost Planet has been kicking some ass for me (though I'll admit, I don't think it lived up to my expectations).

I also managed to snag a copy of WoW:BC collector's edition. Which was great timing, as I went in for some surgery and had to be stuck at home for the last two weeks. So needless to say, it's gotten some mad play time.
Damn that game is just crack.

I also managed to pick up a DS X card, which thus far kicks ass. Lots of homebrew, and I can now store all my games on a single card instead of carrying them around and swapping them out constantly. Highly recommended to any DS owner.
