Wow. It's great to see Speilberg attached to a project like this. I have high hopes for this film now.

"The Sun" newspaper here in England has confirmed that Thomas Sangster (Love Actually, Stormbreaker, Nanny McPhee and a lot of popular TV dramas) will play Tintin. He's a really good young actor.

Andy Serkis also has a part in the trilogy.

Spielberg as said in interviews in the past that part of the inspiration for the Indiana Jones movies came from his love of Tintin as a kid. I just hope that "Seven Crystal Balls" or "Red Rackhams Treasure" are a couple of the books picked to make movies out of.

TINTIN...

It was great when I was 10, and even at this time this character was an has been.

ok there's a few cool books but, it's Tintin, he is not an hero.

EVEN in Europe and almost in France they are tired to insult this character !!!

hope they don't choose the racist book TINTIN IN CONGO !

I am hoping that Steven also works on another Indy movie while putting together Tintin. I just saw The Crystal Skull literally an hour ago and I really really really wanted to love it. I can see how Shia's nickname can be referred to as Indiana Jones since he has the same name as his father, “Henry Jones the third.” Lucas and the screen writers did there job and the story was very much like the other films.

I am sure that Spielberg gave it his all but, his view point on Indy has changed since the 80's.

But, it is quite obvious how cartoonish that Spielberg now thinks of Indy. Crystal Skull was the exact opposite in seriousness in Directing when compared to Temple of Doom. The Temple of Doom had just as fantasy like Drama but it had a seriousness with the direction. I was not expecting the temple of Doom. I was expecting something along the line of Raiders or Last Crusade but, it was not there.

Ever since Spielberg has gone in such a serious and Oscar worthy Direction as Saving Private Ryan and etc. he has probably looked at Indiana as silly. Back in the 80's when he was making the other Indy's Spielberg was taking those films more seriously and Directing them more seriously. But, now he seems as if he looks back on them as cartoons. Indy is a fantasy character and survives things no human would however, he was Directed with more grit and dramatic realism than what was shown in the crystal skull. Spielberg should have Directed it like Minority Report but, with humor. In other words it is a fantasy but with a gritty edge.

What the hell happened to Karen Allen. She is not my favorite Indy girl. Kate Capshaw is but, I still had some respect for Karen Allen's character and now she is completely different and not with the same attitude which is unrealistic. Nobody, changes that much even after having a kid and a few decades.

One of the only things I loved about the movie was Shia since he was the only one with energy and was taking the movie seriously. Before, I saw this movie I thought that Shia would not do as good a job as Harrison but, he did do a better job and would be equal or better in a sequel. As for Shia swinging through the vines well, Harrison survived a bridge collapse which is just as ridiculous and the only reason people liked the bridge collapse is because Spielberg took it more seriously and tried to add as much realism as possible in a fantasy situation. He did not do that with The Crystal Skull.

I liked the Sci-Fi even though Spielberg did not execute it with the same passion as he did religions in the previous films.

Also, the witty humor from the film was missing when it was there in the previous.

I am glad they mentioned Indy's military past and poncho villa since I am a fan of Young Indy tv show.

I want to see another Indy with Shia starring but, Steven Spielberg should stop looking at Indy as just a joke of a character since Steven has won all those Oscars since. Indy is still a fantasy character but, he is Directed with serious action, drama and comical wit; all of which was missing and if Steven puts it back for the next film than I am there. I want Shia jumping around as Indy like Harrison and River Phoenix did in the previous movies and he wasn't offered that chance in this movie. Steven Spielberg owes us a sequel since when I left Crystal Skull I had the exact same feeling as when I saw Batman and Robin. This time he owes the fans one and can't leave Indy with a last film like this.

John,

How do you REALLY feel about all this? I think exploring—elaborating on—your thoughts a bit more will help you flesh them out.

Just razzing you, man. Way to be passionate.

Seeing as i've never read Tin Tin and remember it very little from when I was a kid this will be a completely new experience for me with the movie and the material. But from what i've read so far about this movie as well as the franchise idea they have, using Peter freakin Jackson as the sequels director it sounds pretty cool. I mean even though Jackson has really only made four big box office films, I think hes the closest thing to the next Speilberg. I mean he completely changed filmaking with his Lord of the Rings films, which were probably one of the greatest if not the greatest acheivements in filmaking history, and don't anyone think of saying they are overrated. Because they are not overrated they are pretty much perfect films, they are epic, adventurous, dramatic, action packed, sad, comedic, and just drop dead awesome story telling, with being completely faithful to the books and I didn't really care for the books nearly as much as the films. Then to follow them up with a remake of one of the greatest cinematic stories ever told, and executing its filmaking to the best of his ability. I mean King Kong was a beautiful, dramatic, also action packed exstravaganza that was truly an event that could only be realized and seen on the big screen which was also a perfect movie. Just a lttle lengthy, but im not complaining. And Steven Speilberg, well all I have to say is four movie titles Jaws, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, and Schindlers List, nuff said on Steves part. So whatever this Tin Tin is, with these two behind it working together with that cast (not to mention the guy who made Bond cool again and the genious that is the Pegg/Frost duo) this movie sounds extremely promising. Sorry for being preachy when it came to Pete Jackson but come on hes a freakin awesome visionary when it comes to adapting material for the new age of movies. I just wish hed start on something original like he did with Frightners and a couple others of his. Believe it or not he started with horror movies, and he was pretty damn good at it. And one last thing, what the f*** happened to the HALO movie. One second it was in pre production looking to be another amazing filmaking acheivement from P.Jackson, a HALO fans dream, the next its scraped and never to be made. That pisses me off to the max, now hes doing a silly cartoon I mean come on. Bring us video game/ movie fans HALO the movie already damn it!!!!!! Then do your original horror movies. Only after you bring us a Halo trilogy!!!
