Sister Cities of Osaka
The City of Osaka has been affiliated with the following eight cities as sister cities: San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Chicago, Shanghai, Melbourne, St. Petersburg, Milan, and Hamburg. We have been promoting sister city exchanges with the participation of our citizens in various fields such as sports, science, culture, and commerce.

Friendship and Cooperation Cities
Friendship Cooperation Cities were established in 1998 in order to exchange ideas and information on a city level in such areas of shared city interest as sports promotion, culture, and environmental problems.

Sister Ports
As a gateway to the international metropolis of Osaka, the Port of Osaka plays an essential role in the region. Connected by regular routes from 400 ports in 100 countries, the Port of Osaka receives approximately 7200 vessels a year on international routes alone, making it a center for international trade. Osaka is part of the container service network as one of the most important ports of the world, receiving approximately 3200 fully containerized vessels annually.

The BPC is a new type of urban cooperation led by local governments promoting economic exchange at an unofficial level. The purpose of the BPC is to contribute to making small and medium-sized enterprises in Osaka more internationally oriented and active and to further mutual development through economic exchange between BPC cooperating cities.
