Last year's beaten finalists Waikato-Bay of Plenty have capped preparations for the second season of the ANZ Championship with a final warm-up win in Te Awamutu.

The Magic has easily beaten the Northern Mystics 53-37 in the final of the Waipa pre-season tournament.

The Canterbury Tactix have had a 53-41 win over the Central Pulse in their final match.

The ANZ Championship starts in two weeks.

Northern Mystics coach Te Aroha Keenan says she has been given a good insight into the depth of her squad.

The Mystics lost badly but were without veterans Temepara George and Vili Davu.

Keenan says with shooter Catherine Latu also unavailable, she was able to throw some rookies into the mix.

She says the younger players performed well against the Pulse and Tactix but the Magic exposed some weaknesses.

Latu twisted her ankle on Saturday but should be fine to play in their season-opening re-match against the Mystics on April 6th.

A decision on Latu's eligibility status should be known this week, with the Mystics hoping to have her cleared as a New Zealand eligible player.
