New events included at ninth Gateway Games

THE ninth Gateway Games were held at the main National Sports Centre arena on Sunday and again were the recipient of financial backing from the Isle of Man Sports Council.
They were opened by Mark Humphrey, one of the trustees of the Elizabeth Clucas Trust which has been so helpful to many charities on the Island.

As a result of the games being held at the NSC, certain new events were included in the programme. The overall champions were the green team of Tynwald with 48 points beating the yellow team of Stanley into second place with the blue team, Peveril, in third place.

100 metres sprint A 1, John Stephens (Athol) 12.69 seconds (new record); 2, Stuart Marquis (Stanley) 16.03; 3, Daniel Kelly (Peveril) 19.68. 100m sprint B 1, Katie Saunders (Tynwald) 17.62 sec; 2, Peter Taylor (Peveril) 18.22; 3, Justine Perry (Stanley) 18.96.

No - the last event made a loss so another would be commercially pointless
