Suggestions for Fund Raising

Rachel’s Challenge understands that money can often be the biggest obstacle to bringing our program into schools. Here are some suggestions for raising the necessary funds for our programs.
  1. Go straight to the Principal and ask for the funds. Often times there is a budget for programs like Rachel’s Challenge. Sometimes your Principal can even redirect funds that were originally assigned to other aspects of the budget. Be Respectfully Persistent!
  2. The PTA is a great source for attaining funds for school programs.
  3. ASB funds are also available for school programs.
  4. Approach local service clubs in the area: Rotary, Elks, Kiwanis, Lions, 1099, Chamber of Commerce, Moose, etc. Rachel’s Challenge can even provide you with a standard letter that can be used to elicit funds. The letter describes the RC program and contains a recommendation from a nationally recognized educator and Rotary Club award winner.
  5. Local businesses are also good sources for contributions. Firstly, it would be considered a tax write off if they donated funds for the program. Another approach that could be taken is offering advertising opportunities. You could offer company logo placement on anything relating to the RC event. For example, a banner could be placed in a prominent position that states, “Tonight’s Rachel’s Challenge event is brought to you by (company logos).” Some businesses that tend to be open to donating are banks, real estate offices, restaurants, insurance offices, etc. Any business is worth approaching.
  6. Create a fund raiser. Car washes, bake sales, and simple donation jars are all good ways to raise funds.
  7. Often if organizations cannot donate right now, they will be happy to consider the F.O.R. program in the future,  Remember to establish good relationships and keep in contact with donors for future fundraising.
