VIBE Media Group is seeking dynamic interns to work within our various departments. Interns make huge contributions to the organization and an internship with VIBE will allow aspiring students to apply classroom skills in a stimulating real-life workplace.
Interns gain insight into the inner workings of the publishing industry, from editing to production to advertising and marketing. It’s a great chance to network with and learn from magazine publishing trailblazers.
VIBE Media Group wants individuals who are keen on today’s pop culture. Ideal candidates will be detail oriented, reliable and must have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multitask, desire to work hard, and be a team player. This is an opportunity to be a part of VIBE as we document and make history.
To qualify, candidates must be enrolled in either a two- or four-year college program.

VIBE, seeks interns interested in being layout designers and/or production/pre-press specialists, this useful & informative internship this will provide real-world production experience of working on a monthly magazine. Learning magazine workflow from a Production standpoint will provide an advantage for any print designer starting in the business--many places expect designers to have a working knowledge of design, layout, and production/pre-press.

VIBE, Editorial seeks interns to participate in a highly selective program offering students skills to become well–rounded candidates that are fully prepared for their first entry level job in an editorial department. Students will work as if you were on staff and leave understanding the process of what goes into publishing magazine. Students will learn the correct way to manage a high level of administrative duties, provide research for editor’s stories/projects, learn how to complete expense reports, develop leadership skills, and will be pushed to formulate ideas and communicate them publicly. Interns are surrounded daily by a talented editing and writing staff. There is also a possibility of conducting interviews and covering events.

Online Production Intern (Journalist Interest)
VIBE.com seeks interns to participate in a highly selective program offering students skills to become well–rounded candidates that are fully prepared for their first entry level job in new media at a major consumer magazine.
Students will learn how to write breaking news stories and features as well as be asked to come up with larger package ideas. They will also learn how to deliver print magazine content to an online audience. This is not a tech-heavy position, but more creative and editorially based. Those selected will see their work published on VIBE.com almost immediately. They will also attend various entertainment events and parties, for special reporting. Past interns have been published within their first week. Students will be exposed to the exciting new world of online journalism, which is experiencing a lot of growth in the publishing marketplace. Some administrative duties will be required.
Requirements
- Interns must be able to work 16-hours. To qualify, candidates must be enrolled in either a two- or four-year college program. Interested candidates must provide written verification from their school that they will receive permission form their academic advisor to participate in this internship.

Online Community Intern (Any Interest)
VIBE, Online Community seeks interns to manage the Vibe.com online community consisting of over 100,000 members. They will be responsible for the promotion and enhancement of the community, interacting with members, and helping to develop new features that will be made available. Experience with other social networking sites is a plus, e.g. Myspace, Facebook, etc.
Digital Graphics Intern (Graphic Design Interest)
VIBE, Digital Graphics is seeking a graphic design major that is creative and is interested in urban culture. This student will work alongside the interactive art director to create pieces for Vibe.com and other digital materials. Experience in Photoshop required.
Web Development Intern (Web Development interest)
VIBE, Web Development is seeking web development interns that will assist the digital team in various VIBE.com web projects. This may involve low-level HTML/CSS where applicable if student has knowledge in such areas. Mainly this student will work to enhance our web site and help VIBE.com to create new aspects that attract the college-aged user. The ideal candidate will have created a small or personal web site at some point and is interested in pursuing a career in web development.
