|Torelli has your road tube: Either Extra-lite or Super-lite, smooth or threaded valve, standard, long or ultra-long valve.|
Torelli tubes enhance performance two ways. First, the rotating weight is substantially reduced. Given that the energy needed to accelerate the rotating mass of the wheels is greater than the energy needed to accelerate any other part of the bike, this weight saving is important.
The other energy savings is gained by flexing less inner tube mass. The tire and tube are deformed as they roll over the ground. This deformation takes energy. By reducing the thickness of the tube, the energy needed to roll the wheel over the ground is reduced. More of the rider's energy is used to propel the bike forward at a higher speed.
Torelli tubes are butyl rubber. Extensive investigation and tests convinced us that the reliability and repairability coupled with the low cost made butyl the only choice.

Torelli tires are "Open Tubulars". Open tubulars are vastly superior to regular clincher tires in feel and performance. To understand just what it is that makes a tire an "Open Tubular" and why they are better, we have an essay that explains tire construction and perfomance.
For those not wanting to dive into the details of tire manufacturing, here it is in a nutshell. An open tubular uses the same technology and materials as a high-end sew-up. The casings threads are not woven and because of this, they have very high thread counts and are very supple and strong. This makes for a fast, good-handling tire. The tread compounds are designed to really stick to the road for excellent cornering.
Give yourself a treat. Mount a set of Torelli open tubulars on your bike and find out how good a rider you really are.
