Robert T. Bakker, a dinosaur curator and ''unofficial'' F/X consultant for Jurassic Park, has crafted a people-free tale of dinosaur trials and tribulations that resembles a radio soap opera. After an 8-year-old saurian's mate drowns, she's reunited with her long-lost sister, nieces, and nephews. Though its cozy anthropomorphism resembles a Disney cartoon, Raptor Red is still a pretty cool time machine. B+
