MOSCOW - RUSSIA'S Yulia Yefimova set a new world 50m breast stroke record for women Tuesday, with a time of 30.05 seconds, the Russian swimming federation announced.
Yefimova's record, set in the final of the Russian national championships in Moscow, topped the 30.23 - also a world record - she had set earlier Tuesday in her semi-final, the federation said on its website.
Both times surpassed the previous world record of 30.31 set by Australian Jade Edmistone in Melbourne in January 2006.
It was Yefimova's first official competition since last summer's Beijing Olympics. -- AFP
