Random House is suing Sean (P. Diddy) Combs for $300,000, in an attempt to recover an advance payment for an autobiography they say was never delivered.

The publisher paid the rap mogul the advance seven years ago, in a deal that would have added $1 million to P. Diddy's bank account. Combs agreed to deliver the book in 1999, according to a spokesman for the publisher.

"Random House has seldom resorted to a legal course of action with its prospective authors who don't write the books we have contracted for, but Mr. Sean Combs has left us no choice," spokesman Tom Perry said in a statement.

In 2002, Combs was featured at #12 on Fortune magazine's "40 Richest People Under 40" list.

P. Diddy first skyrocketed to fame, signing Father MC, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Notorious B.I.G., Faith Evans, 112 and Craig Mack.
