Social Media Classroom
The Social Media Classroom (SMC), started by Howard Rheingold, includes a free and open-source (Drupal-based) web service that provides teachers and learners with an integrated set of social media that each course can use for its own purposes - integrated forum, blog, comment, wiki, chat, social bookmarking, RSS, microblogging, widgets, and video commenting are the first set of tools. The Classroom also includes curricular material: syllabi, lesson plans, resource repositories, screencasts and videos. The Collaboratory (or Colab), is the web service part of it. Educators are encouraged to use the Colab and SMB materials freely, and SMC will host your Colab communities if you don't want to install your own. Disclosure: eHub founder, Emily Chang, and her company, Ideacodes, worked on the public website for the SMC.

Great tool. Thanks for providing the information. Where can I find a documentation for this? I was trying to join the community. Its asking for registration code, which I dont understand.

Thanks De Paul

There’s documentation for how to download and install here: http://socialmediaclassroom.com/index.php/download

The hosted version is not yet ready but will be available on the site soon I believe.
