Mazel tov, Sam and Judith!

I spent last weekend at rustic Camp Tamarack, outside of Detroit, for Sam Glassenberg's and Judith Horwitz's wedding. Mazel tov to the happy couple!

I haven't known Judith for long, but Sam has been a friend mine for over a decade. I couldn't have been happier to celebrate with them and our mutual friends over the long wekeend. Plus, I'd been to Jewish weddings before, complete with chuppah and ketubah, but none were quite as involved or featuring as many of the traditional ceremonies as this one. I learned a lot, and even got to serve as a witness, which was an honor.

The camp itself was gorgeous. Apart from the wedding activities themselves, one of my favorite parts of the weekend was running through the grounds. The lake, woods, and fields were pastoral, quiet, interrupted only by reminders of children's summer camp. Cabins, boat docks, ropes courses, and even the requisite barn, complete with hay loft. So cute!

Most importantly, we were happy to celebrate Sam and Judith's new life together with so many friends and family. The photo albums definitely show it. Mazel tov!

Video from Google I/O Talk

The video of my talk at Google I/O this year, Transactions Across Datacenters (and other weekend projects), is up!

I give talks every now and then, and many of them are recorded, so normally, this wouldn't be a big deal. Not many of them publish the videos on YouTube, though, so that's exciting. Plus, I put a little more effort into this one than usual, and just like last year's, I had a lot of fun presenting it.

Enjoy!

It's back! And unlike last year, it's back in all of its king size, over budget, booth babe glory!

Hi, my name is Ryan Barrett, and I'll be your E3 reporter this year. We have a great show ahead of us...ok, no. Unlike my last few times at GDC and E3, I don't plan to write up full fledged notes and analysis. I'm still excited about watching the press conferences and announcements, though. Armchair industry analyst is one of my favorite imaginary jobs!

Sorry, real job. The next few days are going to be a little unproductive...
