Jose Gonzalez maps North American jaunt

Jose Gonzalez will follow up a world tour behind his second studio album, "In Our Nature," with a handful of summertime North American festival appearances.

The Swedish singer/songwriter, who has trekked across Australia, China and Europe since the beginning of the year, kicks off the six-date run June 25 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The schedule includes performances at the Toronto Jazz Festival (6/26), Winnipeg Jazz Festival (6/27), Vancouver International Jazz Festival (6/28) and the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival (6/29). One US date--July 1 at Ann Arbor, MI's Ann Arbor Summer Festival--is also on the books. Details are shown below.

Gonzalez will be joined onstage by percussionist Andres Renterria and Death Vessel vocalist Joel Thibodeau for the short outing. The performer continues supporting "In Our Nature," which surfaced in October 2007 and follows up his 2006 major-label debut, "Veneer."

Gonzalez recently collaborated with The Books on a cover of Nick Drake's "Cello Song," a track found on the February release "Dark Was The Night," which benefits the international AIDS charity Red Hot Organization.
