Marcus Ericsson moves east
The 18 year old Swede Marcus Ericsson has signed a deal to race in the Japanese F3 Championship with multi-Japanese F3 champions and double Macau GP champions PETRONAS Team Tom’s for 2009.

“I am delighted to join PETRONAS Team Tom’s, says the Swedish F3 star. It’s one of the absolute best F3 teams on the planet and will provide a great opportunity for success in both the Japanese F3 Championship and the Macau F3 GP. It’s going to be both exciting and developing to live outside Europe for the first time in my career”.

Marcus won the 2007 British Formula BMW U.K. championship in his first ever car racing season and this year placed 5th overall in his Rookie season in the British F3 International series for Fortec Motorsport, before racing with Carlin Motorsport in the 2008 Macau GP. He will be based in Gotemba City, close to PETRONAS Team Toms base.

“We are very pleased to have Marcus on board as one of PETRONAS Team Toms family members and look forward a successful 2009 season with him. We would like him to enjoy both driving our F3 car and also the completely different culture here to broaden his experience in various aspects”, says Koumi-san of PETRONAS team Tom’s.

The Japanses F3 Championship kicks off at Fuji International Speedway the 4th and 5th of April.
