SCAR SYMMETRY is an "all star" melodic Death Metal band forged during 2004. The cast comprises veteran figures such as the INCAPACITY, UNMOORED, SOLAR DAWN and TORCHBEARER credited Christian Älvestam on vocals, the guitar pairing of Jonas Kjellgren from CARNAL FORGE, DELLAMORTE and CENTINEX with Per Nilsson of ALTERED AEON, bassist Kenneth Seil and drummer Henrik Ohlsson, the latter able to boast a wealth of associations to acts such as ADVERSARY, LEGIA, ALTERED AEON, MUTANT, DIABOLICAL, THRAWN and THEORY IN PRACTICE. The industrious Älvestam has an extended roll call of band endeavours such as CARNALIZED, ANDUIN '98, EVENDIM, LORD OF THRONES, ORGY OF FLESH, SATTYG, RED SKIES DAWNING, THE STINK BUG COLLECTIVE and DEN TIDLȪSA EVIGHETEN.

A debut album for Metal Blade Records, entitled 'Symmetric In Design' issued in February 2005, was produced by Kjellgren at Black Lounge Studios. Tokuma Records issued the album in Japan in April. Per Nilsson enrolled into the ranks of WORLD BELOW in January 2005, just upfront of the record release. SCAR SYMMETRY switched labels to Nuclear Blast in June. In January 2006 Christian Älvestam enrolled into ANGEL BLAKE, a new band assembled by MNEMIC and ex-TRANSPORT LEAGUE vocalist Tony Jelencovich.

SCAR SYMMETRY joined the 'Metal Hammer' sponsored 'European Neckbreaker's Ball' 2006 tour, also featuring HYPOCRISY, SOILWORK and ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET, commencing 11th April in Denmark. New album 'Pitch Black Progress' arrived in early May. SCAR SYMMETRY subsequently teaming up with Norway's COMMUNIC for the 'Waves of Pitch Black Decay' European tour in late September. Christian Älvestam donated guest vocals to ZONARIA's 2006 debut album 'Rendered In Vain', featuring on the track 'Attending Annihilation'.

During late 2007 Christian Älvestam and ANGEL BLAKE bassist Anders Edlund announced the Swedish/Finnish Progressive Metal "supergroup" SOLUTION.45, featuring in its ranks keyboard player Mikko Härkin, ex-SONATA ARCTICA and KOTIPELTO, second guitarist Jani Stefanovic, from MISERATION and ESSENCE OF SORROW, guitarist Tom Gardiner, of SCORCHED EARTH TACTICS and HATEFORM, and drummer 'Stuka' (a.k.a. Rolf Pilve), of ESSENCE OF SORROW, MISERATION and DREAMTALE.  

The 2008 album 'Holographic Universe' charted at no. 37 in Finland, 65 in Austria and 68 in Germany. With Christian Älvestam's exit in October, SCAR SYMMETRY announced the addition of two new singers, Roberth Karlsson, of EDGE OF SANITY and FACEBREAKER, plus the new face of Lars Palmqvist. Meantime, Christian Älvestam duly formed THE FEW AGAINST MANY for a debut album entitled 'Sot' alongside guitarist Patrik Gardberg, of TORCHBEARER, DIVINEFIRE, AMMOTRACK and MISERATION, bassist Anders Edlund, of SOLAR DAWN, INCAPACITY and SOLUTION.45, with Jani Stefanovic on drums, a seasoned veteran citing credits with RENASCENT, TRAIL OF TEARS, SABAOTH, ESSENCE OF SORROW, MISERATION, SINS OF OMISSION, THE WEAKENING, CRIMSON MOONLIGHT, HILASTHERION, DIVINEFIRE, SOLUTION.45, AM I BLOOD and MEHIDA.

Jonas Kjellgren featured as a solo artist on the February 2009 compilation album 'Shredding All Over The World: Vol II'.
