Why am I posting the following clip of the recent Paris Hilton appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman? Because, believe it or not, I think it says a lot about a lot of things: I think it demonstrates that Hilton is unequivocally the highest-profile moron (baby-talk, pouting, threatening tears=arrested development? non-development?) since Mike Tyson... that Letterman, in his own sadistic way, can actually still be funny... that Americans' obsession with celebrities, especially those who have accomplished nothing to earn their celebrity, is a real sickness that needs to be further examined (Daniel Boorstin and Richard Shickel have done outstanding, must-read groundwork on the subject)... and that I am something of a hypocrite for saying this and then encouraging you to watch the talentless abomination experience a meltdown anyway! You start to almost feel sorry for her... almost.
